I could be wrong, wouldn’t be the first time
if that was the world we lived in, wow would have died out 10 years ago. no, people pay because they like the world of world of warcraft. however they dont get catered to like they rightfully should be
The game is pretty much casual , Mythic raids last 4 to 5 months in a patch cycle that can be causally completed, there is no rush
Arena is accessible to all
M+ is accessible to all
Bgs is accessible to all
World content is …you get the point
If Blizzard deigned around the min maxers there would be one dps , one tank and one heals with no options , no diversity e.t.c
The DF talent tree is pretty much of that as well, you would have one nerd do the math on what skills are the best. If Blizz designed for min maxers then you wouldn’t need this nerd the talent tree wouldn’t have any branches and be linear.
So I’ve heard, but did they specifically state 0 end game pve? Or did they mean, sporadic endgame through pugs? The latter I could believe
That is a long winded way to say “I’m better then you, nyah”
except hes not because he doesnt raid and doesnt run dungeons so hes a thousand percent trolling he is the irrelevant audience according to him
I believe at one point they did indeed imply the latter, but I do not recall any time where they actually laid out what they thought a casual was. They may have at some point, but I do no recall if they have or I didn’t see that particular interview.
Semper Fi!
filthy casual = someone who does less in game than i do, or think they should. that i love to lord my pixels over.
elitist beard = someone who has more skill than me who does things i couldn’t possibly do but pretend i could, but, “have a life”
Every game likes to make money and most if not all games have a larger casual player base than hardcorde-basement-dwelling-neckbeard-nerds.
You missed.
The worst part of just about all these “casual “ related posts is the mere fact that people continue to think casual is people who don’t raid. This is not true. Casual really applies to anyone who doesn’t delve into the game like it’s a lifestyle more than a game.
If you just quest yeah your pretty casual. If you are in a guild but 2 nights a week you raid the rest of the time you play doing “whatever” you are also playing rather casual.
If you play the game on average 30 to 40 hours each week and during that time playing 90% of it you are only engaging in highly competitive play (mythic raids ranked pvp, maybe a few very high m+ keys etc) and the time you’re not doing that you are doing stuff to better doing that content (crafting gear, maybe practicing rotations, discussing with others in game or out about how to take down mythic bosses etc) if that’s your play I’d say your approach to the game is a bit more hard core than casual.
Most people play more casual than hard core. But beyond that from a business perspective the OP point is ridiculous, you should cater to all customers. Why? Because it’s good business and there’s bills to be paid like it or not by blizzard staff I’m sure the employees don’t want to say “no let’s use a philosophy that garners us LESS customers intentionally , we don’t really want job stability or prospects of raises…”
Your world view is pretty much bass ackwards it would seem to me. When I get paid for something, I bring value to the process in order to get paid. When I pay for something, I should be the one receiving value, not the other way round. Only the minor expenditure ($12.99? for 30 days) that WoW requires to play would keep me around considering the shoddy treatment casuals are subjected to right up to and including the almost rabid abuse allowed to be heaped on us here on General Discussion.
I ask again, do you elitists have some inside information that makes you believe WoW is suddenly going to give the “undeserving” casuals some kind of loot pinata soon and that fact is driving you all over the edge? Why the frantic attacks? Personally I don’t believe casuals will ever catch a break.
I believe at one point they did indeed imply the latter, but I do not recall any time where they actually laid out what they thought a casual was. They may have at some point, but I do no recall if they have or I didn’t see that particular interview

I figured as much, so when the solo players claim that they are the majority it’s actually false, which I guess we all knew.
And anyway, I’d say most people I know use LFG exclusively for raid/m+/Rbgs
It would be by far the majority of players
Good to know though
Wasting resources on making that hyper casual playstyle would only take away from people who actually play WoW for what WoW really wants to offer.
Blizzard appreciates easy marks players like you who probably gladly buy a token instead of doing any of that pesky open world content and buy boosts instead of wasting time leveling characters when you could just work a few hours of overtime instead of playing the game
Also, casual means nothing. Everyone has a different idea of what that is and nobody seems to agree on anything when it comes to “casual” players.
This game doesn’t need to be the #1 MMO in the world if it means catering to an irrelevant audience.
The game is becoming one of the worst MMORPG’s because it is catering to an irrelevant audience said Audience already being the most hardcore of players who are literally on record complaining about having to do anything but Raiding good example being the 9.2 Double Legendary situation
The game is becoming one of the worst MMORPG’s
But it’s still number one.
Flame me all you like. This game doesn’t need to be the #1 MMO in the world if it means catering to an irrelevant audience.
It’s not the #1 MMO in the world anymore. So you got your wish?
You should be careful what you ask for, because you may get it.
I dunno OP, Tournament of Ages is one of the biggest RP events ever, they even catered to us when it came to CRZ, we even were on many news sites about it too.
Roleplayers and casuals make up a majority of the fanbase.
Debatable these days.
i have fun with the content that i consume so isn’t that the point. doesn’t really matter if the game has 1k players or 1mill.
Flame me all you like. This game doesn’t need to be the #1 MMO in the world if it means catering to an irrelevant audience.
you mean like elemental shamans with 0 cr and no relevant raid achievements during their relevant time periods, with the last time they even passed 1400 in arena being 2018
you’re literally saying you are irrelevant.
simmer down.
