"it's not cheating or an exploit, it's a clever use of game mechanics which Blizz tolerates and actually encourages"

Why do you care so much about them? My experience has not been impacted at all by streamers.

Maybe try to avoid reading forums so much?

You’re trying to split a hair here, but any advantage gained as the result of such an exploit, even if it is solely for the “character’s” benefit is still cheating.

You may think it doesn’t affect others.

Every exploit cheapens the value of the effort of other players who don’t cheat.

Pretty sure the voices of thousands outweighed them. Good try though. Don’t think brown nosing will get you what you want though… That sweet, sweet streamer love. lol

Sorry, I don’t even have a toon near max. My highest is this one that I don’t even play anymore. I mean, if ya want you can ride the streamer pole all you want though.

Sorry you’re not smart enough to realize there is a problem with allowing some people to reap extra benefits and not others.

then, will we also get banned, for using the so-called “Free Character Migration”, to be already level 20 a new server, when those, who started there normally, had only level 10?

Glorious. Thanks for the blue post.

To the pit. Cast them as far as possible from the light.

So what you’re really saying is it’s okay to go ahead with a glitch, knowing it’s a glitch, if you’re a figurehead for WoW marketing. But if you’re just some random joe shmoe, well you need to take a break bub.

I can imagine Ion coming up with those phrases precisely to avoid this being more visibly tied to layering. Pretty funny actually, there’s not 1 word of layering in this blue post although it’s the key component to this situation in particular.

That way layering gets less attention, but seeing as it caused a major mess that’s not gonna help too much anyway. The damage is done. And apparently people get to keep all their stuff after they come back from their breaks. Depending on how long that break will be those might still end up being really useful anyway.

I’d just hope we’d get a word now on whether they would, at the very least, be willing to individually turn off layering on servers that allow for it the easiest asap instead of turning it off on realms all at the same time. And also would love to know when they will release P2, seeing as these raids already get cleared easily, and thanks to this exploit, often too.

As it stands there’s going to be a ton of traffic at the release of P2, and without layering, those queues will be a sight to behold. So? Are they gonna wait until then to break their old queue records? Or can they keep their promise and turn off layering in the next 2 weeks (which aligns with “a few weeks in”)? I sure hope so for the sake of the game.

Lore gave them the go ahead to clear when it shouldn’t have reset. Seems like the actual issue is with questionable judgment on behalf of the CM in allowing a bug that enabled extra loot.

Did you actually read the blue post? They ran into a glitch and contacted blizzard immediately. Blizzard themselves told them to clear it as it would halt their progression.

Of course they told them to clear. We need those streamers getting their bindings!

…wait so what you’re saying is the bug has existed since 2004 but you never fixed it because no one knew about it?

No, they would have told anyone to clear it if in the same situation

And how many of those guys do you think still raided 5-man dungeons after the nerf? The fact is, they knew they were getting more EXP than they should have, and only raided dungeons because of that, or they would still be doing it, which none are.

They raided the dungeons AFTER they found out about the bug, it wasn’t some happy little mistake. They were raiding dungeons to get more exp, that was their intent, and it was obviously a bug.

Except they didn’t. Sooo…

No idea where you’re getting three months, most got a month max for repeat offenders with most people getting 3-7 days.

Also, the exp gained through this wasn’t reverted. Some people like preach leveled up 5-7 characters. The time saved doing this greatly outweighed the ban. I’d be gobsmacked if Blizzard removed the items rather just give a small ban.

Edit: 4 of my friends got 3 day bans for leveling a character from 20-120 in a day to get the heritage armor. I’d take that trade.

12 month bans given the severity of the exploit and the damage caused to the economy, imo.
