I’m glad you’re willing to admit that this was never content intended for casuals and solo players.
You are missing something here.
In a raid you do wipe yes, but there is also no 30 men party allowed, that can breeze through the content you constantly wipe at with 20 players.
But exactly this is the issue with Delves, where 5 men parties are allowed.
Don’t forget some classes like death knights have it real ez.
It really isn’t that at all, multiple people playing multiple classes and specs have said they’re clearing tier 8 Delves fine.
I finished levelling my mage to 80 today and ran a tier 8 to get a feel for it. I cleared everything up to the boss with one death.
My mage’s ilvl is 512. I’m also specced into Firefrost, which is currently considered undertuned.
It looks like bosses in tier 8s will be impossible for me, I just don’t have the damage at that ilvl. So I’ll find the highest tier I can complete and get gear from them until I can take the tier 8 Delves down.
But the trash didn’t take an eternity for me to clear and it didn’t one-shot me unless I got hit by avoidable damage. And I was almost 100 ilvls below the recommended.
I’m sure there are classes and specs that are struggling, but Delves themselves don’t seem particularly overtuned. The issue is that some specs lack the tools to properly deal with them, which needs to be addressed in some way.
For solo at least, I can’t speak on groups.
I don’t even know what this comparison is.
In Heroic raids it’s all about playing clean, learning mechanics together with a group and get rewarded for it.
In Delves it’s more like getting oneshot by unavoidable and uninterruptable mechanics and watching helplessly as my character gets shredded by enemy casts while my kick is on a 45 sec CD.
The encounter design in raids and delves is completely different.
There are some serious design and balancing problems with Delves and I’m getting so tired of people trying to handwave it away with some “it’s a skill issue hurr durr” or “you need to leeearn”. 20 item levels more won’t double my HP and there’s no learning curve in getting stomped by simple auto attacks.
I’ve cleared several 8’s, that’s not the problem. But it wasn’t much fun.
They just want their loot and they want it now. They want to skip straight to Tier 8 and be able to beat it undergeared.
The FOMO is unbearable and they can’t stand it.
It’s a temporary issue.
The reason why delves became front and center this week is that M+ is still not released, and it became clear that T8 delves were a better/faster/easier gearing source (at least from a iLvl perspective) than M0s were, so most of the M+ players formed delve groups to blast through and get the T8 gear. It’s always a competition with these players, because if some of them get that gear, and others don’t, that creates disparities in how attractive players are for groups for M+ next week, and so it felt mandatory for M+ players to do it (nb – I am not an M+ player myself and was not doing this during the past week).
Next week it will blow over because those people will all be chain running M+.
I mean… Isn’t that what some people do, wipe in normal early and take weeks to months to clear heroic?
This pretty much. I cant wait for that to happen just so I can go back to delving without being lectured by some chud waiting to do M10 Grim Batol how its unfair I can get gear on par with him.
I could care less about how players get gear. Casual players will still struggle with delves no matter the nerfs, because the majority of them would be considered bad IE: Keyboard turning, not key binding, not using defensives etc etc.
M+ Score is there for a reason, I foresee people full clad in delve gear getting inspected and immediately kicked - but then again, there is an M+ score for a reason and groups are very selective because they want to be with similar skilled, like minded people.
by like minded, do we mean people who think 20 year old anal windfury memes are hilarious
then lets put the progression back in raiding
That’s already how Raiding works.
Your progression speed is tied to the skill of you Raid team and gear helps with that.
No?
Like minded meaning M+ is a goal and mechanics have to be done/followed. There’s no room for keyboard turning in an M+, It’s just not possible, especially now with the key squish.
I get a lot of people think people who play this game doing raids and M+ are sweaty try hards, but just because someone can dedicate more than 1 hour per week to this game doesn’t mean that. It’s jealousy at this point.
I can totally dedicate more than an hour at a time to videogames. I just dont like keeping to anything resembling a schedule or working with pugs which makes raiding a no go and I find mythics really tedious so I dont do em unless my guild needs help with one.
It’s literally 2 to 3 hours on a single day of the week for a full clear, and even less with more gear + knowledge e_e
Delves are meant to be an end game solo option that gets you to HEROIC RAID item level. If you’ve ever been in a guild and gone through progression in a heroic raid, you know you don’t complete everything in the first week of the season. You fail. Constantly. It’s wipe after wipe after wipe after wipe. Another wipe? Dang. Time to re-up the food… again.
I’ll bet a lot of the people complaining about delves aren’t even enchanting/gemming/using food/using combat potions. Delves are your solo version of heroic raiding. Enjoy the wipes as you get better and better in the coming weeks until you can easily clear all the delves at tier 8 and higher
100% agree.
However just like Heroic Raid tuning…They have to fix a lot of impossible to defeat enemies and bugs. Tala and Velo Heralds are the hardest Bosses in the history of WoW. If I had next expansions gear I wouldn’t beat them. Their mechanics are beyond broken and infinitely harder than the End Delve Boss.
If you get Tala and Velo blocking your Delve path, you have to reset the Delve. That isn’t progression that is broken. Those 2 aren’t an encounter I can get good at or gear up for. It’s impossible. I can’t CC them, I got only 1 interrupt, one is immune to damage and then they do %HP damage. Most broken duo Bosses in the history of WoW.
Eh “progression” when the loot is massively RNG oriented
When you raid, you’re guaranteed the slot you need.
They were advertised as a casual friendly soloable content. There was no mention of it ever equating to any sort of level. Besides a T8 drops champion 4 gear. Or 603. Which is what normal raids drop. Not heroic.
There shouldnt be any one shot mechanics.
Any class of any spec should be able solo each tier with slightly increased difficulty each time
-blizzard was never good with numbers, we all know that
-They saw us having too much fun so they messed it up, a lot of these issues were known since PTR but they never did anything about them
Absolutely this.
Every class and spec should be able to solo a Delve at the recommended item level.
The problem is I see a lot of posts from 590 or lower toons saying an 8 is impossible for them even though they’re 10 iLevels below the reco.
It’s literally 2 to 3 hours on a single day of the week for a full clear, and even less with more gear + knowledge e_e
yeah but groups get mad if I decide one week that I’m done with world of warcraft for an indeterminate number of months with no timeline for when I’ll feel like logging in again so its simpler to just not bother outside of LFR
