Items deleted on Gear Update

After coming back after 1.5 years, I opted for the ‘gear update’ on my regular toon that I have played on since 2009. The gear did update, but everything that was in all my bags was deleted.
Now most of the items I can just farm and get back, thats not a big deal, but one item in particular and I cannot and its needed for Visions of Nylotha quests, and that items is Ashjra’kamas, Shroud of Resolve, the cloak.
It didnt come in mail, i checked void storage, everything.
I also tried to see if possible to recover to no avail, like going to Wrathion in Silithis and in Blackwing Descent, nothing.
WIthout the cloak I cannot even zone into Visions at all.
So I have a ticket to get that one item back, even if its level 1 and I need to work it back up to 15, which is fine. But I cannot find any other way of recovering this item for this toon.
Ugh, if I knew the risk of everything in the bags deleted, I would not have done this.
If anyone can help me resolve this, please let me know.
I really dont play on any toon except this one and I have so much done on him.

Check mail box.

Also, its not the 50 nightborne warlock listed there. Wonder why that popped up

Double check your mailbox. Everything would have sent back by mail after any boost. Try loggin g in and out a couple times.

its actually been a few weeks since i been logged into the game. Really enjoying Dragonflight, but no, nothing in mail unfortunately

Which character and server did you do the character Gear Update on?

Ok this may be related to the Quest Reset option as part of the Gear update. If you accepted the option to clear quests, it warns you quests will be reset. Very often quest items are removed when quests are reset. Although the item description says it can’t be destroyed or disenchanted…

That is certainly the right way to think about it. Trying to get the quest back.

Start here reading maybe?

I’ll give that a shot, maybe I’ll start from the very beginning and give that a shot.

The update was on Imotep, MoonGuard server.

I did the upgrade on several of my toons, and this is the only one that has the issue.

Also, the quests didnt delete, as I still have ‘maintaining focus’ from back then i took hiatus and was in the middle of doing LFR Nylotha quests.

But Im definitly going to go all the way to the beginning of it all and see what I can come up. There has to be a way to get it back.

Will advise soon. Thank you !

Are you very sure it is gone? Not in your bags, bank, or Void Storage? Sometimes items hide very well folded under the mounds of other things we collect.

Try your bag search functions where you type in the name of the item and it highlights the bag it is in for you. That takes a lot less time than heading back to the start of a quest chain! Worth trying first.

So went to Stormwind, the beginning of it all and no quest giver (Anduin)

So I thought, i was there, why not try Chromie, and see if I can run that timeline again to get it. Out of all the timelines chooseable, that is the only one it wont allow me to choose, its not even an option. All the other timelines are there, just not BoA. Weird.

Is this the same for anyone else, is BoA chooseable at Chromie for them ?

Going back to Blackwing Descent to check.

Hearthed back, used the search engines in my bags, void, and bank. No avail unfortunately.

I know its trivial since its been awhile, but i love this toon, and i like to complete old things in between raiding pvp and such to complete things I couldnt do back then.

Not sure how it got deleted u cant sell it so it something went wonky.

Sounds like you have been through all the proper self check channels!

Well, hopefully a Blue can take a look at your char Imotep-Moon-guard’s quest logs and bags to verify that char really did complete the quests needed, and that you somehow don’t have it. They can advise from there what might be possible to do.

The quest doesn’t start from Anduin. For Alliance it starts in the room Cyrus is in (letter on the table). For Horde it starts on the ship (also a letter).

You have to be at least level 50, and you have to have completed the 8.2 questline to activate essences on the heart of azeroth. Are you sure you did in fact complete the quest on that character?

You can run this script to see if you completed the quest: /run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(57290))

thank you

I hope so too. I even thought that maybe I deleted the bag in the mailbox, but it wouldnt be possible with that item in it since it undeleteable, unsellable, at all.

Even if they can reset the entire line and it took me days to go back and complete, im fine with that.

They cannot reset questlines or anything like that. They can also only restore items found in the item restoration list (since the list is the same one GM’s have access to). But run that script and see if you did complete it on that character or if you’re just misremembering.

I’ve completed the cloak quest 26 times, and I’ve gotten to where I can do it in about an hour (using skips that are available after you do it once).

Forgive my ignorance please, how do I run that script ?

Copy it and then paste it into your chat box in game and hit enter. Do it on the affected character to see if that quest shows as completed.

True = quest done
False = quest not done

/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(57290))

just did it. says ‘true’

Ok that means you have completed the quest and the cloak should be somewhere. As far as I know, it can’t be sold or deleted. Check your bank. Check bags. Check void storage, anywhere it might be.

Yeah not anywhere, that item, plus the rest of the items in my bags were all deleted during the gear upgrade. Only my gear was upgraded, and new bags given.

Would you mind sending me a /tell ingame, would like to ask something please
