It’s time for you to stop beating this poor dead horse, OP. It’s not even a horse anymore, it’s a pile of raggedy bones and dust.
It might seem unlikely but i think it could definitely be possible sometime in the future even if its not a pressing issue. I don’t think its unfair to Void Elf Fans imo. (just my opinion) since its an overall name that includes ALL Alliance Thalassian Elves. Similar to how “Troll” while basic can better encompass all the Troll tribes under Darkspear outside of the Zandalari.
A racial tag would be nice too but i think a new overall name would be great. Again just my opinion though.
I agree but it’s nothing like this. Void Elves should have never happened like they did. Imagine getting pink Dwarves out of nowhere in the next update, instead the Dark Iron Dwarves, the ancestral Dwarves who watch over the clans from the afterlife. This is how stupid their idea was.
I do adore the Void options but they should have been established as playable High Elves which get Void powers. Not the other way around.
Yeah i think we’re in total agreement there.
From the start they made no sense and the Rep faction they were tied behind had absolutely nothing to do with their race. And it seems Blizz is starting to understand how badly it was executed given how they continue adding High Elf options to the Void Elves now. But it’s still ridiculous it happened this way at all.
This has long been my opinion as well. Should have been High Elves from the start with the Void Elves coming along with the package as a “Night Warrior” type option. It really could have been an easy addition with the Argus stuff still.
Vereesa could have went to Argus (as she did) to find Alleria with her Silver Covenant rangers. And rather than unlocking elves through the… Krokul rep, we could find Alleria’s band of “Voided” High Elves who are survivors of the Alliance’s Beyond the Dark Portal Campaign that got lost with Turalyon & Alleria and joined her in her studies.
Allow me to clear some things out. I suggested what I did above not only for the opportunity to add a separate nameplate for High elves, but also to benefit other races as well by making it more tidy and making space for other ARs down the road. The separation is thought out both with political and cultural differences in mind, but also due to some unique traits that the different groups possess. I will call them groups from here on because you’re right, they are not different enough to be considered as separate races, despite the fact that most of them exist in-game as such.
So, whether you agree with it or not, it is canonical that High elves, Blood elves, Void elves, and Dark Rangers / San’layn all originate from Thalassian elves, hence the suggestion for them to be placed under that category (assuming that Dark rangers / San’layn will be added down the line).
In the midst of writing this reply, you helped me come up with another idea. What if, instead of ARs, they add a category under the main races called Political Affiliation?? Then once you hover over each of these different political alignments, it will give a summary of what things each of these groups believe in. So it will be like this:
Thalassians - No note.
Political Affiliation:
High Elves - A summary of their descendance from the Highborn and their exile which lead to them calling themselves High elves.
Blood Elves - A summary of the great kingdom they had which was destroyed by Arthas Menethil, and how they picked up their pieces, renamed themselves from High elves to Blood elves and managed to regain their homeland back from the Scourge.
Void Elves - A summary of how they were exiled from Silvermoon after an unfortunate event when Alleria approached the Sunwell due to her Void powers clashing with it.
Dark Rangers - A summary of the Dark Rangers being Thalassians who were raised from death by Sylvanas Windrunner to serve her in Tirisfal Glades.
It will be similar with Dwarves, DID and Wildhammer dwarves, Tauren and HMT, Draenei and LFD, Humans and KTs, Trolls, Zandalari and Forest Trolls, Gnomes and Mechagnomes, etc.
I think void elves are a terrible, should never have been a compromise for high elves. I think they should definitely give you guys definitive high elves, they’ve been in the alliance so long and you can’t ignore that.
I think that an issue with this is that it would probably be seen as Trolling on Blizzards part.
We know Ion’s a Horde player and his conversations with Lore were pretty insulting. So if they gave us High Elves and then turned them into blueberries I could see people being really upset unless it was a split race like it is now.
You now have that.
The void elves will now be able to use the bloodelf skin tones, hairstyles and hair colours
The void elf hair tentacles can be toggled off and you have already got blue eyes.
What else do you need?
Kul Tiran Draenei?
Maybe i didnt word that properlly but i didnt mean (in this scenario) for All High Elves to turn into blueberries. But rather Blueberries would have came as a customiation for the actual High Elf allied race. It’s just that sub faction of them could have still been introduced alongside Alleria. The race would have been called High Elves and had High Elf racials etc. But the Void stuff would have just been a bonus added on.
Yeah, but Blizzard went down with the Void Elves instead to push for the customisations on a later path. Honestly though, if we actually did get High Elves instead of Void Elves, what would the racial be?
EDIT: Thank you forum mods
We have High Elves now.
They’re a sub race like Wildhammer, Sandfury, ect ect. We’re not the only ones who lost out on being a core race.
If you want a Light based High Elf, go Horde.
If you want a Void based High Elf, stay Alliance.
They’re literally playable on both with a freakin’ flair. This is getting exhausting, and I wanted them playable on Alliance.
If turning blue every once in a while in combat upsets you that much, just make a cancel aura macro.
They can literally just pretend it’s a trinket. There’s tons of trinkets in game that turn you into different effects in combat sometimes.
Is not a big deal.
Well, to be fair, Void Elves aren’t a different race to the Blood or High Elves. But with Umbric and his followers the only ones that were transformed from the Etherals, it is kinda hard to really point out on why we have been given these customisations when there is a bit of mix messaging between each dev, because they are all saying something different while being on the same page. Yeah, I know that last line didn’t make sense.
But the problem is, they are just still Void Elves, and they still have very little lore. And this is why I still want the original High Elven groups that we already had on the Alliance, because they have a strong lore, and already being with the Alliance, it would’ve been easier giving them to the Alliance as a playable race than the Void Elves in the beginning.
After all, this isn’t about having access to Paladins, this is about having a strong lore to the races or groups that we’re playing, something which Void Elves have nothing off.
I agree 10char/
Since Void Elves exist, it’s not going to happen. This is a consequence of Blizz trying to have their cake and eat it too, by sort of giving the Alliance High Elves, but not really. The whole appeal of playable High Elves was the lore behind them. If it was purely about the character model people would’ve just played as Blood Elves. Plus, and I can’t emphasize this enough, High Elves are already members of the Alliance. Several different groups of them, in fact. They’re just not playable. That’s what people have been asking for, not former Blood Elves who are now hopped up on void juice.
Void Elves are also just a dumb idea. They shouldn’t exist, but for some reason Blizz was terrified of fully pulling the trigger on High Elves, so now we’re stuck with these lore abominations.
You’re an Alliance-player, of course you don’t get what you have been asking for. I’m just glad that they go back on their stupid idea in dishonoring your faction’s request.
I ask for a high loss rate in my bgs. I have yet to be disappointed, checkmate good sir!
Wasn’t the Korrak event not infamous for the 95:5 winrate for the Horde? I do remember leveling our Horde-alts from 110-119 within one 30 minute battle.
