So I want to say a little over a week and half ago I recruited a friend. I sent the link and they followed the steps the link gave them. They bought the future xpac and subbed for 6 months. I see her in my RAF but everytime she logs on its grey out and just says logged in less then a min ago. On my friends list I see the summon friend ball icon thing but again its grey out. The RAF tab states no game time has been added. some other forum posts said it can take a bit so we waited. Last night I figured out she has a wow1 and wow2. Wow2 is the full game with the 6 months time paid. wow1 was a starter account on the same bnet account. Apparently the raf was attached to wow1 but when they bought the xpac it made wow2. She tried the steps to delete the starter account but that didnt work. They put in a ticket and got the typical no help response from a gm. I decided I would try here first before they pursue a refund from their bank
GM staff can not manually change linked accounts for RAF. Not sure if your friend can get a refund though for their purchases on wow2, or if you can send a new link and your friend can try again with their wow2 and link them.
Going through the bank would effectively be a charge back which might cause issues with the whole account, not advised.
Make sure to read the faqs on RAF.
This will only make things worse. Highly do not recommend.
If you mean a refund ticket, more than likely they got that response from the automated service because that’s the front line, and has likely played through the refund parameters. A GM was not involved in that process at all.
They’ll want to submit a ticket for them to look into it manually. It will likely lead back to the automated option, but there should be an option at the bottom saying “I still need help.”
the issues falls in that its been like 10 or 12 days cuz other posts said wait it might just be slow RAF only works 7 days retroactive. NO clue why RAF link made the wow2 account and didnt just upgrade wow1. as for issues with the whole account from a charge back well this is the only thing on her bnet account the whole point was for us to raf and play together. so what it the charge back fries the account. If CS cant fix this issue the account is worthless to us and the only other option is to re do raf rebuy the game and rebuy the 6 months time all on a new account. Since she didnt get the product she bought the the bank will do a charge back.
How long had your friend had that WoW1 Starter license? If it was over 7 days old, then it would not have been eligible for RaF.
There are requisites for an existing account to be eligible, and it likely didn’t meet them.
But I’m confused.
If WoW2 is the RAF’d link and WoW2 has the purchases she made…
tbh I have no idea she didnt even know she had it and neither did her husband. She played on his account with me last xpac and well she got a laptop for xmas so she could play with us
Hopefully she has her own Battle Net account now – in her name. Account sharing is not allowed (except for 1 minor child and their parent/legal guardian).
so are we man the RAF linked to wow1 the starter account but when they followed the raf link and bought the game and time it automatically created wow2 and we only figured that out last night.
There are limits to what is refundable. What is probably going to hit your friend is the time played limits. It doesn’t hurt to ask, once your friend gets past the self-service tool to the point of submitting a proper ticket, but yah. Just dropping this here.
Leave out the attitude towards all who took the time to reply. They didn’t have to, so I’d be grateful. We’re players just like you, and this is a player help player forum.
Replies about account sharing are valid after you mentioned it, because it’s a major rule that Blizzard has closed accounts over, so we’d be remiss to not mention something.
And Leileaths reply about refund policy is also valid, as it might be a solution.
And replies about that are also valid, because they did get what they paid for. You can still play together. A charge back will cause further problems because they authorised the payment.
Wow! okay then. Good luck!
"Q: What do my friends have to do once they receive the invitation?
A: When your friends open the link, they’ll be able to create a new WoW account—or log in to an existing one, if eligible. From there, their account"
Quoted from the RaF page. I imagine they just didn’t log in and instead said to make a new account. If that’s the case then it’s functioning as intended.
Well, you were the one who also brought up the possibility of refunding things. Granted, you were talking about a chargeback, but so long as your friend is under the marks, it may be that they can still try and see what Blizzard can do before going to a practice that will only serve to stir up unnecessary trouble.
Since this forum is not a point of contact for the staff outside of our SFAs when they’re on the clock (meaning no GMs here at all), we’re doing what we can to try and help within the lines that we can.
Perhaps in the morning a SFA will pop their head in and offer some advice, but that is never guaranteed.
No matter. Good luck to you and your friend.
that very well be how it happened if thats the link they clicked I dont know I wasnt sitting next to her. But the question still remains if they used the RAF link to buy the future xpac and game time why didnt the RAF link with that account? will add its all the same bnet account it just made a new wow log in on the account for retail but RAF linked to trial log on
Then keep the focus on the issue at hand, instead of low-key threatening chargebacks and making rather inappropriate comments about what she calls her husband.
The problem likely stems from when they purchased the expansion. They probably applied the expansion (and game time) to a different WoW account than the one that was linked.
Here is a view of what it looks like when trying to purchase the expansion:
If they didn’t select the RaF linked account, I’m not sure what help there can be. They can try opening a ticket (you cannot do this, they have to), but if there’s nothing that a GM can do, then unfortunately that is the answer.
Generally, the only way they can help is if the account is eligible for a refund. They cannot move an expansion purchase to a different WoW account, and I don’t think they can move a RaF link from one account to the other. So if they can get a refund for the expansion purchase, then purchase it for the correct account, the RaF link will work.
But yes, I will reiterate what the others have said: initiating a chargeback from the bank is not a means of getting a refund that has been otherwise denied. It is telling the bank that you did not purchase this item. This can not only be considered fraud, but as stated above, will cause the entire account to be locked until the payment is returned. It will likely have other consequences, such as associated cards being deactivated until a new one is issued, and possible penalties from the bank once they investigate the situation.
Have them open a refund ticket through the Blizzard support site. The automated system will likely deny it, but there is a link at the bottom to open a ticket for a manual GM review.
As mentioned, a chargeback will likely cause some complications. It definitely will lock the account and make it unplayable until the balance is settled.
Without looking at the account in question (I would need a character name/realm for that), I can only guess at what happened. It sounds like she may have linked to her WoW#1 license, though I’m not seeing a recent link on your WoW license, but either created or upgraded a different WoW license when she made the purchase.
I’d need to look at the account to get a proper timeline.
I don’t know what could be done at this point. Game Masters aren’t able to link accounts, it just isn’t an ability they have, but I might be able to see what happened.
This is the friend stella is trying to help, I am not very computer literate and she was just trying to help she is very blunt and impatient the charater name you need is Lokin on zul’jin
FYI, Blue might be out for the night, this might not get responded to right away. Welcome to, or back to, World of Warcraft.
Not sure if this is your account, but I am guessing it is not really new, judging by the achievements. Not many, but some going back to 2017, then 2023. I can’t tell as a non-employee if this was trial account time, or if it would disqualify you from RAF on one license.
The requirements are listed above.
yeah its her account I guess it was end of dec we did the RAF time kinda went fast so it was a few weeks ago not 1 and a half weeks. So back in 2017 she must have played a trial account or something. She just dosnt remember it.
