Is WoW finally killing itself off

No. Maybe it’s going out of fashion a little bit, though.

yes wow is dead, you can quit now

It’s been obvious they’ve been trying to for a while now. My theory is it takes way too many resources for how few players WoW has considering how enormous the game is.

Being an ordinary adventurer was so much better than a champion chasing the latest MacGuffin.

You have to understand, the forums have been saying exactly the same “oh no wow is teh deadz” garbage for literally 15 years at this point.

That makes you old if you have been following along that long!

Remember RIFT? or WoW Killer Number 7#

WE ARE NOT IN AZEROTH ANYMORE

Meanwhile RIFT
Last 30 Days, Average Players: 280.3

For the story issues, I wonder if they should just “retell” it. It’s pretty much over when we’re going into cosmic stuff that has almost nothing to do with the Warcraft RTS games.

I’m not a comic book fan at all, but apparently they keep “rebooting” stories like Superman and Spiderman when they “run out of lore”, and people are fine with that. So I dunno, perhaps Blizzard could just reboot its story from the end of Warcraft III.

It obviously won’t fix the other problems of retail WoW, but perhaps a modern retelling of Onyxia’s story with cutscenes and all would be exciting, I dunno.

It feels like another hail Mary attempt tbh.

Wow could be a wonderful game again if they got Tom Chilton quality devs. Keep Ion for raids and hire someone for other stuff. Humans wont do anything if there is no financial incentive. How many things are you paying the same for as you did in 2005? If we dont pony up more money and pay for premium content or somehow make this game more profitable for them they GAME WILL DIE a slow painful death.

They added tokens to monetize, that people generally disliked. Added store mounts and character boost, also disliked. But they don’t want higher prices, and no one does, okay, in game ads? there are none. E-sports? yes, climbing but e-sports of MMORPG is hard to massively appeal to people, unlike MOBAs or Shooters, or fighting games.

Right now, you can play the game for free, with in-game gold, so the pay to play idea is just bogus, that’s 15$ less per player if they actually realize tokens can be bought for pocket change (in gold coins). Base edition is 40$ for 2 years, compared to a console release like FIFA, 60$+ for 1 year and lots of DLC and ads, with minimal to no change whatsoever in gameplay, graphics or features, just change music and color brightness, bam, another top seller of the year…well, it’s hard to compete money-wise. We don’t pay for patches, we buy the game and get 2 years of content for no extra payment (thanks to tokens).

Take your shots everyone

Welcome to the coal mine my friend!

a wow 2 would be nice at this stage im sure we all would appreciate being noobs again and exploring and discovering everything once more and to bring the game into modern day standards would add so much

yesterday it was sad there were like 5-7 online on the guild I’m currently… despite the efforts of the gm trying to recruit people… tonight it was the same

I might need to find another home soon at this rate consider that we’re not even close to 9.1.

Clearly their systems are harming the game it’s clear.

It has been killing itself every time it completely smashes any competition allowing for the game to become more and more stagnant.

more like perpetually dying if you ask the forums going as far back as 2004… literally posts stating wow is dying or wow sucks as far back as the beginnings. yet here stands wow still going over 16 years later.

Things never change.

lol look at this random old post from April 2006 that i just found looking on google atm for a random old wow is dead post:

This old 2006 post literally reminds me of the current forums…

…and the responses literally remind me of the typical responses to posts on the current forums too LOL!:
