Is WoW finally killing itself off

Agreed. Current developers can’t be part of it. Blizzard needs to reset their strategy, and rebuild the brand, and customer faith, or a new MMO needs to take its place.

This is where we need outside talent to come in and take over. Many MMO’s have tried over the years, but now more than ever is a good time to make market changes.

Kind of sad yet hilarious at the same time and the cycle will continue, but I do wish these developers start producing interest content. Not the usual that we expect a normal patch to have.

It reminds me of the tv show walking dead. Its still around but not the same after they killed off the main characters a few years ago. The day bfa released was the day the game died. I couldn’t believe it and would ask my self, we went from legion to THIS?

Yep.

I never had issues with Sylvannas, she was one of my favorite developed characters from Warcraft 3.
Same with Arthas being one of them as well.

They’ve taken any reputation that had a value to it, such as you can now get this and this armor/weapon etc.

Now it’s pretty meaningless. The only time people do rep grinds is for Pathfinder, or to wear a tabard. Neither of which are all that incentivizing considering we could just have flying for free, and an abundance of content we can choose to do, but aren’t required to.

They set 4-5 constraints/requirements that have to be met in order to “enjoy” the little content there and smaller realm we entered.

I honestly was tired of torghast after the first 3 layers. It reminded me of when I was grinding in vanilla/BC to hit max level with a fresh toon.

Unfortunately there was more to gain in doing that grind than there was in Torghast.

Half of the content is literally grinding to be relevant. from the time you hit level 50 to 60 and then the first half of your Covenants.

It’s all a grind to be relevant and useful. It’s not excitement. I’m not excited to go conduit farming, renown farming, torghats ash farming (2ce a week if i have it at 8 on the toon i’m on).

Then you have a toss up of maybe you’ll get a bone thrown your way, but the meat is stripped of it most times.

BFA was bad, but honestly I wasn’t forced to go do the azeroth gear stuff right off the bat to be relevant.

Good luck trying to do mythics without conduits, and a legendary, or even any of the raid bosses.

Your dmg and what have you suffers for it immediately.

I said that when I heard Arthas was a raid boss in Wotlk.

This game has such a stupidly large amount of boring pointless stuff to grind for the sake of grinding. I actually think I liked WoD and MoP more than most of the content post Legion. In Legion at least it was a bunch of new ideas that were expanded upon and it had an amazing story of us fighting the Legion which was cool. Now yeah I don’t know what the heck is going on, but what story I do notice seems kinda borrowed and meh. Oh no the Jailer has a Legion sized army … rolls eyes.

Yeah, the entirety of the lore revolves around the legion.

Legion invasion #1 Orcs came to azeroth. Legion invasion #2 They formed the scourge and created death knights. Legion invasion #3? Time travel and space ships.
Legion invasion #4? Well, now we’re going into the undead realm.

Honestly, they’ve been getting desperate for interesting ideas since Wotlk.

Yeah they really need some interesting stories and ideas to build off of. I’m not very intimidated by the Jailer honestly. Hell we already marched right in and smashed up the Corridors too.

It’s why I hadn’t played wow for almost half of it’s existence if not more so.

Categorizing them:

“World is ending”:
Cataclysm.
Legion
Wotlk
Shadowlands

“Lets go to war for poor reasons”:
Mop
Wod
BFA

Same regurgitated stuff.

Not to say these weren’t good ideas individually, but after a while, it’s not consistent and it’s always one drama after another.

If they want us to be at war, okay fine, add interactive objectives in a campaign for PvP that isn’t instanced. Base it on contribution of resources, it could be an active war across azeroth and sort of equivalent to risk. IF people want base building they can do this.

There is so many more interesting ways they could develop this war across a few expansions that aren’t dramatic and are well thought out.

Even over new territory. Rather than killing off several faction leaders because “big bad orc” “evil undead”.

I guess you get what you whine about. Not sure how we got to a place where we have to grind stuff out to purchase items. The best part of wow was logging on having a buddy whisper saying I want to try for this item or mount in this dungeon or raid… Now its I have to run dungeons and maw and torghast and callings and lfr so i can buy something half decent. Gone is the excitement that something cool might drop in a dungeon or raid.

I feel the story is pretty typical for any franchise that has been out for a while. retcons, and bad writing happen in just about any franchise i have sunk my eyes and my fingertips into, especially something like wow that has been around for like 20 years or so.

WIth that said, my only real major gripe this expansion is the fact that i cannot choose vanilla, pre- cataclysm zones and quests and dungeons for leveling up in chromie time.

Shadowlands took a look at the overall leveling process, a first in 10 years since the cataclysm revamp. The cataclysm expansion would have been so much better to me if the cataclysm revamp could have just co-existed with the old vanilla 1-60 content. So not being able to do the old pre revamped vanilla 1-60 content on my way to max lvl in shadowlands is a huge bummer.

Before anyone asks, yes i know classic wow exists. I do not feel it should be the only way this old content should be experienced though. I mean, this is my only major gripe with shadowlands so far. I have adapted to not having leveling skills or ammo anymore, but not having the old overworld as an option for leveling up blows.

Otherwise i love shadowlands. the theme is cool. The dungeons are cool. The zones are cool. I mean it is awesome. And they have added back old abilities as well.

I am praying this is the case.

We return to Azeroth and can no longer rely on borrowed power… possibly the return of old talent tree builds with crit and hit % on gear :blue_heart:.

Local bandits might actually be able to kill us again 🥲
