Is WoW actually dead?

I play at different times during the day. Sometimes there are a LOT of people on. Sometimes there are only a few. Hunts are generally loaded with people. World quests are too. I don’t know much about the raids as I just got to iLevel 360.

I think the sheer anger and hatred of Shadowlands has shifted into a state of “meh” over Dragonflight. Might even argue that feeling is even worse. At least with Shadowlands, people could have fun ragging on the expansion lol. Now, it feels like people just don’t care.

Games not dead though but if any are like me, the game is just, “meh.”

WoW’s going to be a legendary title for the next millennia, even if it literally shuts down today. The accomplishments over the decades it ran are unquestionable.

People just needed a long break.

What toxic monetization is in the game this current expansion? Insight me.

Huh???
Sucb a weird statement.

There’s nothing persistent to do in game. No farming, no tracking, no animal breeding, no husbandry, no trapping, no foraging, no crafting of anything that anyone uses for any other persistent activity, no tool degradation, so there’s no reason to ever craft tools unless they turn the scale number up in a patch.
There’s no managing anything, no manors, no houses, no expeditions, no taxes of anything, no collections.
There’s nothing being born, nothing is dying, nothing to raise, nothing to procreate, no reason for recreation, no persistent jobs.

All you do in this game is press the keyboard for 200 actions per minute, dodge fire in the floor and then at the end hope you get a piece of gear. That’s all people have been doing for at least 14 years because they for sure don’t do PVP or RP.

looks around Valdrakken
No.

I feel like the lore / story / roleplay and fantasy, just about is. :pensive:

Since there’s no mysticism, true eternity, fate-bound ascensions, reincarnation or whatnot and it’s all ‘The First Ones’ and their robots. God, Shadowlands made this once revered game so damn lame. :unamused:

Not much here for casuals once the massive rep grind starts to ebb over into alts. if we had housing and could move stuff around in it and use stuff we find in the world also to decorate them might be a reason to stick around. We are more inspired to support the game instead of unsubbing after the 2-month burnout starts, but also, the head dev guy is working on a raid right now, which they’ll nerf for their favorite raider guild to beat. So that’s just the reality of Wow. It’s not a game with anything worth staying logged in for once the grinds are done. Don’t get me wrong, this a good expansion, and it is far better than SL of BFA they are working hard on it, but they need a more RPG-inspired direction instead of an e-sport direction.

A lot of people actually play the game for RP.

And so do the only companies whose MMOs come close to competing with WoW.

I find it quite funny how you’re posting on a level 58 Classic DK so nobody can call you out on your BS lmao

It sure feels likt it. Yes, of course there will be more expansions to come, but the game feels rather dead.
The devs neglect their own world,- just take a quick look at EK, Kalimdor & Northend, even the 2 main hubs, especially Stormwind.
They completely ruined the lore over the last couple of years.
They don’t care for actual customization options and model overhauls for players. Instead I guess they feel generous by giving 1 or 2 races a handful of hair colors every few months.
They keep their anti-social restrictions, granted, they are veeeeery slowly lifting some of their dozens of restrictions. It’s too little too late, though.
The game keeps repeating the same dull formula.
It’s just tiresome.

In other words, WoW isn’t a mobile phone game.

Thank god.

When I do the events there’s tons of people around.

Gamers are…gamers. They may take a short break but always return…to gaming heh

+1 reason to add btags because of clowns like this.

Yeah, the lack of structure for world content really hurts. You just wait for events or grind endlessly.

Many people are still in denial, but the number of WoW players who do only world content (and occasional queued content) is huge.

We also don’t have a Torghast or islands or anything like that. Hopefully the new Vaults feature in 10.07 will draw players back in.

If you don’t know already, you aren’t paying attention. There’s no way for MAUs to be down but revenues to be up without it.

I am chuckling at sliding the window to “this expansion” like the game is radically different from Shadowlands. It is better! But it’s still not an all inclusive sub price.

2012 called and they want their thread back.
