Is this against the rules: holding zones hostage for ransom

Hmm… you seem confused. Yes the modern architecture allows you to message someone on the opposite faction through btags or real id. But that is a two party consent system.

You cannot to this day create characters on opposite factions to randomly whisper and mail someone on the opposite faction.

You made the assertion that cross-faction communication is against the rules. I would like you to back up that assertion with anything.

I just did. You don’t like the answer.

You didnt cite anything. You just asserted a second thing without showing anything that supports your first assertion.

Can you at this time in retail create a character on both factions on a pvp server on the same account?

Well, there are no PvP or PvE servers on retail anymore. So…that is a thing.

But even if there still were, not being able to create both factions on the same server on a single account does not mean that communication between the factions are prohibited.

And you have still not shown that cross faction communication isn’t prohibited…just requires extra steps.

And while were here I guess we’ll talk about this…but what other definition for “collusion” could you use besides “two party consent” You’re literally agreeing to work together. You can use Real-ID to collude with people.

The fact that the tools are built into the client themselves means Blizzard implicitly endorses it.

Actually, they have:

Years ago in TBC two friends and I were camping the Horde place in the Zoram Strand. We were there a little over an hour and suddenly got ported out to BEM. We didn’t get banned, but we were told to knock it off.

Of course, it was a HORDE place being camped, so . . .

Yes, thats fair.

But clearly you’re still wrong because isn’t Danath Trollbane an alliance NPC? How is Blizzard favouring horde in this instance?

You have an unhealthy obsession with with fake internet factions.

Also digging up a post from 2013 is looking real REAL hard. Especially if you read the post he only got an hour suspension. I would argue that his suspension was unjust.

Have anything a little more recent?

I see that reading comprehension and discernment continues to be an issue in this thread.

You can report players for zone disruption.

Nice way to IGNORE the ELEPHANT in the room, the FACTION COLUSION that is against the rules of Blizzard but everyone (including Blizzard) keeps ignoring.

Just the crap that happened in Silithus. Blizzard will do what Blizzard wants to do. And that changes from hour to hour and person to person.

Except there is. Holding quest givers ransom is very clearly zone disruption, which is actionable.

I don’t know how clear it can be since we disagree. Yes, there is a threshold where it certainly becomes disruption. But it is a matter of degrees. Killing a quest giver once, or even for a few hours is not enough disruption to warrant account sanctions in my opinion…especially on a PvP server.

If it was a whole guild doing it for a week straight. Absolutely.

There is a line. I don’t think this crosses it.

In terms of how long players can lock down zones, ganking and killing quest givers and vendors, I think putting the line at a whole week straight is pretty ridiculous. So anything less than a week is completely okay. There is a line drawn somewhere for everyone. I think even a whole day is completely unnecessary and too far.
But hey that’s just what I think. I think the line is WAY before a week. Less than a day.

Its not pvp its the collusion he’s asking about. Read the post

Yes.

It isnt against TOS. Sorry you dont like that answer. Even if it was, good luck having any chance getting it enforced.

Rules and laws verry rarely list what you can do, btw unless stated as an explicit exception
