Is there a disconnect between Blizzard and the community?

Basically. I was primarily doing WQs tonight to try and get renown to further my covenant’s storyline… then I realized I just don’t care. It took 13 minutes to do a particularly obnoxious one with four steps.

It’s just not worth it.

So instead the devs are now taking away from the “bottom” 95% of the playerbase who can’t play for 12 hours a day and do cutting edge raiding every week with an established group, just to give the “top” 5% their wishlist in an expansion?

How does giving casual, solo, and average players something meaningful to do and ways to earn gear actually hurt the raiders if raiding is still the most rewarding anyway?

The professional WoW players are going to be playing WoW until the day they die regardless of the expac that Blizz puts out (case in point: WoD), but the rest of the playerbase can easily move on if there is literally nothing in this game for them.

Sir, I do not believe that level of common sense is allowed on the forums without a prescription. We do not wish to cause massive amounts of Mental Damage, (Crushing) to people who have not reached the Witticism Cap yet. People who get blue-screened into oblivion usually follow up their mental shellacking with an “I QUIT!” or “High Elves Plz” thread.

So going forward, I must request that you better manage the Reality Resource, though I know it’s tempting to burst everything down. Anyways… I’ll soak this one, and give the disclaimer so as to mitigate “Reality Shock”.

“Side effects may include: dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, water retention, painful rectal itch, hallucination, dementia, psychosis, coma, death, and halitosis. Common sense is not for everyone. Consult your doctor before use.”

I think that was a lot funnier in your head.

The biggest disconnect I feel is between a few instances

  1. The dudes that hunt you in torghast. The community has stated in beta over and over. We didn’t want this.

  2. Conduits. A pointless grind for minimal payoff. This could have been improved on by allowing us to grind out the conduits once and then upgrade their ilevel through something like soul ash.

  3. Legendary affects. Many are unrewarding and bland. There is no meaningful choice when the choice between a useable function and useless is what we have.

How else is he supposed to see Shadowlands? It broke every previous WoW sales record, so it’s commercial successful. A lot of players for the most part enjoy the changes aside from GD which always seem to find something to complain about, so it’s successful within its own player base as well. I think people are conflating their own interest level with the game with how the game should be received by everyone. Just because it isn’t fun for you doesn’t meant isn’t fun for everyone else too.

insulted.

perfectly phrased.

you just made me realize why I don’t care if I get permabanned, I’m insulted that they think so little of their CUSTOMERS time.

Holy cow, you got that father of 3 who only took ppl outgearing mythics to his mythics so good.

I am fairly sure hes trolling, but you never know…

They absolutely are, sadly.
Just bringing up the phrase “casual players” is all you need to see to know that.

When I was growing up with this game being a “casual player” meant something quite different.
It meant, you were choosing to not participate in the end game because you either didn’t want to or didn’t have time to.

Now, its like a justification for not wanting to work to improve at the game.
And that is just not what this game is about.

If you want to play that way, that’s fine.
But you also need to recognize that the game does not want you to play this way, so acting like you are being marginalized is frivolous.

As flawed by design?

How many they sold is completely irrelevant to the state of the game post-launch. You keep touting this number like it means anything at all other than people bought the game - it matters more if people actually play.

Also given they know that the specs/classes that have a BiS covenant overwhelmingly chose that covenant should show that the covenant power system is not a meaningful choice at all.

How do you know this? Have you spoken to every single player, or a large enough sample size? This is a completely fallacious claim to make.

I’d say the same thing to you, but in reverse. Just because you enjoy it doesn’t mean it’s good, or that other players enjoy it.

 Preach! This is a great way of addressing casuals in current WoW.

What ways to earn gear don’t exist in this expansion that existed in BFA?

thats 100% what is happening though.

Blizz put a lot of work in since WotLK to bring casuals in.

To spit in their face now is how you ruin a company.

This is garbage. Casual players are more than willing to put some time and effort in, just not as much as the hardcore players - and that shouldn’t gate them from a large portion of content, which it does in Shadowlands with just how many systems we already have to juggle.

Casual players in previous expansions could do more than they can in this expansion, which dumped loads of timegates and chores on our laps to keep us occupied - but they’re not fun.

Who’s the community? I don’t think it’s a collective hivemind.

Uh because to improve our characters we need to do mythic + and raids, and we can’t/don’t want to. All we have are WQ and LFR, and probably PVP which I do not participate in. Can you elaborate on what you actually mean here?

Communities don’t stay the same forever, neither has WoW. As Metro said before, the term casual has changed and players need to adapt to the change.

blah blah blah, go feed your kids

WQs don’t seem to be worthwhile in the slightest for gear, whereas they were in the past. They’ve also severely reduced the loot drops, which means people are getting geared slower than ever too.

Please don’t make an excuse for that.

The record of subscriptions that we actually know of was in Wrath, which was arguably the most casual point of the game, without vomiting garbage systems on us to keep us playing.

If this, “change” that you suggest actually happens, it will see a drop in subs.
