Is there a disconnect between Blizzard and the community?

Not taking a side or stating a complaint, just asking question

theyve been pretty open about their contempt for the playerbase

This is just my opinion, but I think Ion and the dev team have done an excellent job of addressing BfA’s shortcomings in Shadowlands. The players complained about gear falling from the sky, and this got fixed with the new system of Vaults. The players didn’t want 50 minute long PvP arena battles, so now these have reduced down to minutes and classes feel generally fun even if unbalanced. Visions was also universally hated, so they removed it and gave us Thorghast. Even all the chores got removed from BfA, and everything is optional now and we have a week to do whatever we want. I think the game is in the best state it’s ever been in, but again this is just my opinion. The systems are definitely working as intended.

There is a massive disconnect between the blizz devs and what a MMO is supposed to be.

Yes, you have the option to play or not to play. Have fun!

Torghast is not fun though.

Yes, absolutely. They’re only catering to streamers and raiders now.

Except if you did anything outside of WQ’s the gear that fell from the sky was worthless. Heck 99% of it wasn’t even near lfr levels.

Benie gear in 8.2 was just there to keep the playerbase on the gear treadmill, chasing the right stat, the right spell, with a socket and then getting pearls to upgrade it all…

8.3 and corruption, just another gear treadmill to keep players chasing and grinding the little systems Blizzard put in place…

In hindsight, nothign was wrong with WQ gear, maybe bumped to LFR, and nothing was wrong with Mythics or Raids drops. It’s band-aid fixes to problems blizzard created and fixes that really have no business being implemented…

Yes. Look at the state of people trying to transmog run. Its a huuuge community. And blizz has yet to fix it.

Generally, any regime that stays in power for a long period of time loses contact with the people they serve.

Ion has been with Blizzard since the Bush administration.

That should put things in perspective.

No. I think Shadowlands is great. I also think a lot of people just like to complain to hear themselves speak.

This is going to come off more harshly than intended, but I think the disconnect is between players and reality. “They don’t listen to us!” There is no us. Yes some of us agree, but that in no way implies we are a majority. Not listening to you/me doesn’t mean not listening, it may well mean they are listening to a part of the community that feels differently than you/I do.

People seem to think GD is how the game is doing or how everyone playing the game feels, this just isn’t reality. You’re spot on!

I wonder if you think repeating this in every thread created will eventually brainwash us into agreeing with you.
