Oh no, implementing all this stuff for launch is the right play for sure.
It gives them all the time to iterate on it and make it better, instead of having to worry about what’s coming next every patch.
As players, its much better to get it all out of the gate and grow into it then constantly be wondering what new system is coming that is going to flip the meta on its head.
There is no going back because once you give players this expectation you can’t go back on it.
It looks like you are just trying to sell the product with less content for the same price.
They still make compelling content and much of it is related and much of it is not related.
You can still play through much of what was featured in Legion and BFA despite those systems being defunt now.
In fact, one of the best ways to level is do all the class campaign stuff in Legion. Very efficient exp per hour!
Because MoP was a better expansion. Dailies were dailies (and so are WQs, they are just dailies), and Isle of Thunder and Timeless Isle was enough for us to waste time on. Prior to MoP, every expac had run like this.
Then came WoD, a painfully neglected expac where players craved something to do other than raiding, which was even worse for casual players. Thus they complained, and the dev team latched on these complaints something fierce.
To quote Ion from one of his many Q&A sessions, they swung the pendulum too far for Legion. Funny how in so many Q&As they reflect on what they did wrong, but rarely seem to learn from it.
Borrowed power sucks, it sucks as much as losing old talents from previous expacs that I enjoyed, but the game decided was no longer needed.
I simply disagree that there’s no way to provide an expansion that doesn’t overload itself with badly designed systems that players need to grind through busywork to get even remotely near the level of performance and comfort they could get prior to the expansion.
That busywork is mostly optional and the devs gave multiple ways to reduce the time it takes to complete these tasks as well. Players just get overwhelmed easily, but most players are fine with it as evident from the mostly positive reviews.
Please tell me how I can get through the covenant storylines without doing busywork on multiple characters? Because as of right now, that’s all that interests me.
Bruh his posts have been entertaining me the whole day, they’re so funny I can’t even. The Torghast one takes the cake though, he’s been going into every Torghast thread spamming that it’s an amazing feature and working exactly as intended
You’re gonna hate to hear this, but this requires actually playing the game that you’ve spent the whole thread crusading against. The renown catch up mechanic is easier than ever, so alts can catch up pretty quick given that you spend the time leveling them and doing the catch up quests. Every week there’s a 1k anima quest, which can be done multiple ways quick. World boss WQ gives 250 anima, PvP quests give 500 anima for both, PvE dungeon quest gives 150 each and simply doing dungeons, raids can drop anima as well. If this seems like it’s too fast paced, they even give you a week to do it. The calling and reputation and WQs are optional and can be ignored, and Torghast at lowest levels can done with a low iLevel with relative ease even on fresh characters. There’s a lot of ways to do this.
Now you’re just trolling. I listed both PvE content and PvP content, if you refuse to do either then why even play the game? Renown is easy to get as I pointed out and can be done in less than an hour or two and can be done throughout the week casually as well.
The anima isn’t hard to get. But it’s a weekly, and you won’t get anywhere in the storyline by just doing that. And if I want to see all the storylines, I have to do it four times.
Light forgive me but I actually have to agree with Tupa on this one. I started a week and a half late and was agitated to say the least about being behind because it seemed things were locked. Blizz did actually make it reasonable to catch up. I was where I should be by the end of last week. Getting souls isn’t too rough. The 1k anima can be grueling but doable simply with world quests (the WQ themselves are lackluster though as I’m sure you know). You will get renown one-ups slipped in randomly even though they might not be offered as an initial quest reward.
This is exactly where things are going. The whole reason I never played an MMO before WoW is because all this stuff sounded like the world’s biggest PITA. I was reluctant to even try WoW at first because of what I knew about other similar looking games containing these elements.
It’s going to backfire on them. Which makes me sad because I’ve had a lot of fun in WoW and even now, when it’s fun it’s very fun. I adore Castle Nathria, for example. But the getting there is getting less fun.
