Is survival hunter fun? why is it fun?

It’s pretty simple, actually. You don’t have to play ranged to understand why people like playing ranged. But if you primarily main melee and you don’t understand why Hunters don’t like Survival… that’s probably a result of primarily playing melee.

I see Gromgarr already said as much but you opted to start this ridiculous back-and-forth anyway.

If some melee player comes to the Hunter forums and posts something as naive as “I don’t get why Hunters don’t like Survival :(” I’ll call that out. You would have to be living under a rock/in your own bubble to not understand why. What’s worse is these people often reject Hunters’ own explanations as to why they don’t like Survival and say things like “It must be because Hunters can’t handle complex playstyles because it’s an easy class for noobs”.

As a goblin hunter, thematically? I love it. Mechanically? It leaves a lot to be desired for me. I find its rotation very clunky and awkward. Also I didn’t roll a hunter to play a melee class. Other classes do that better than survival spec.

I remember what survival was like prior to its change to the melee spec and I loved it. MM was burst, BM focused on the pet, survival was your traps and dots spec. You had things like serpent sting, shadow shot, explosive shot, it was equally good for raiding as well as pvp

this thread is nuts! survival is the most fun spec in the game!

i like to run wildfire infusion and mongoose bite for the most skill intensive gameplay but i also run a ranged weapon macro to weave my arcane shots on the move. most people probably couldn’t handle it but they can just spec BM.

All blizz had to do was add a 4th spec if they wanted to have a melee hunter. Plus I never heard anyone ever asking or begging blizz for a melee hunter spec. Yes we had polearms (Stat sticks) but they were never our primary weapon or even close to what a primary weapon should be (dps wise).
