I can’t see the original post so I may be wrong here and if so, that should teach me but it probably won’t.
We’re all human, after all.

Male human Pally ?
Post is Inappropriate - matter of opinion.
Post is trolling - certainly a matter of opinion.
Post is spam - again matter of opinion.
Author has an inappropriate name - you guessed it, matter of opinion.
If you don’t get how violating the TOS in any of these ways depends on point of view… I don’t know what to tell you.
Fair enough, I didn’t see OP’s post before the edit (and not sure if I can now? I know you can see your own edits, but clicking the button doesn’t seem to show me others’). OP just confirmed it a few comments above me, though.
From the point I joined the thread, all I see is him referring to posts getting flagged because they don’t align with your views on a subject (presented in a non-inflammatory way, so it doesn’t violate other rules)… and that definitely happens a lot.
It never results in a ban when used in that way, but is very common regardless.
It’s Inappropriate
This post contains content that a reasonable person would consider offensive, abusive, or a violation of our code of conduct.
It’s Trolling
This post is inflammatory, extraneous or upsetting.
It’s Spam
This post is an advertisement, or vandalism. It is not useful or relevant to the current topic.
It’s a Real Life Threat
This post is threatening to a user.
Author has an inappropriate name
This post’s author has an inappropriate username.
Maybe your post fell under these and just because you saw nothing wrong doesn’t mean others didn’t.
There DOES tend to be a pattern
Exactly, the point of our responses is to show that it is less likely that the OP experienced a false-flag operation, and far more likely they received reports from those who found their conduct upsetting, offensive, etc.
Sure, but it’d be nearly impossible to ever determine intent on that sort of thing to actually punish someone for “false flagging”. The only thing I see being actionable would be logging onto multiple alts to flag bomb something. Anything else is a matter of opinion.
I think the OP needs to take a course in proper MHP forum trolling from Clarke
This is an example that I used to create this post.
I mean, kind of. Your actual example was going into that thread, saying “I can’t say what I actually think about this because you’d all flag me for it” and then posting irrelevant song lyrics, if I recall correctly.
The latter of which is spam, by the way.
Posting lyrics to a song stating to “give peace a chance” doesn’t seem irrelevant when people in that thread were flaming each other imo.
If someone posts something for the sole purpose of inciting discord and causing arguments, regardless of my view on it, I will report it. If you don’t like my view, report me for it…
Idk what you just said but I tend to take people at face value and try hard not to read into what they’re saying.
So when I read your post, which was edited but w/e, I thought you had a good point.
People, some, do use flagging to muzzle others. It’s a form of censorship and the ones who do it usually have a very overbearing aspect to their personalities.
There is absolutely nothing you, me or anyone can do about that.
But Blizzard does have some choices. They can make the reasons for flagging/reporting streamlined, efficient and narrow it down.
They can also add in a downvote button.
It will still happen and I suspect the reason it will continue is mostly because the ToS isn’t very clear on some things, it’s way too long and filled with legalise.
So Idk what to tell you. Maybe ask for a downvote button for those who are rabid flaggers.
Won’t fix the problem but might help.
I only edited out my example because I had people reply after it stating that I am going to be reported for breaking TOS.
As others have pointed out, two of the flag options are entirely subjective.
The intent seems to be let people flag things that offend them and mods will make the final decision.
That’s your opinion. Others clearly disagreed. Hence the flags.
Your post was restored, so the moderators obviously took your side. You weren’t silenced, because you’re still here making threads.
What’s the problem, again?
Ah you see, you’re leaving out the fact that you wrote “flame on” in a LGBT+ celebration thread.
Can’t you see why some people might consider that “trolling?”
I don’t think the example you edited out, which I think I read, was suspension worthy.
I’ve made threads where I vaguely described getting suspended unfairly, I didn’t care if I’d get suspended again because I was royally pissed.
I didn’t get suspended for what I’d written. I was very vague just as you were.
Now if I ask for it, okay. But it’s happened at least 2 times where I didn’t.
So yeah, the report feature is being abused. You are correct about that.
Will they do anything about it? Probably not. They haven’t so far so I don’t expect it to happen.
It’s ultimately their loss, when you think about it. So many have left already, the forums are no longer as entertaining as they used to be.
So if this continues it’ll die off. It’s Blizzard’s choice.
My “problem” is people false flagging other peoples posts or replies on this forum. And you already do know that I was silenced for being falsely flagged and then restored by a GM, since you were the one that stated I am going to be reported for using my original example as part of my OP.
