Unless they give the dislike button back so people can you know… dislike a thread, reporting will still end up being used as a pseudo dislike.
You wouldn’t have made the thread if this wasn’t about you so when we do use you as the example you cry don’t use me .
Ok everyone move along this is just some child crying for attention
So I did some digging. Seems like OP was pretty active on a locked thread and was riling a bunch of people up and was apparently banned before as well.
There’s 1 common denominator here…
You keep trying to point out my post history and taking a reply out of context. It is funny, the reply that you are solely stuck on is the one I was false flagged for and silenced, and then had to get a GM to restore my privileges.
has this been answered?
4 of the 5 reasons you can flag a post are firmly in the realm of opinion. So what to you is a false flag to another maybe a truly offensive post.
I blame the removal of the dislike button (thumbs down). We now suffer from over-reporting.
I don’t know, it is something I am trying to find out. I haven’t found it on any other posts.
Maybe they care and suspend people abusing the flag feature. Who knows?
Maybe they don’t suspend anyone and just un-hide the posts? Again, who knows?
Either way, they clearly have no means of actually developing this forum platform to protect against this kind of flagging abuse in the first place. They moved to a 3rd party forum platform instead of their own, and literally nothing wrong with it has been fixed since then.
Not sure what this has to do with false flagging individuals who haven’t broken the TOS.
I can go back to my previous comment in this thread if you would like, but I have already explained to you that you were making what you considered “jokes” in a thread that was highly controversial.
Before you say, “don’t make this about me,” your first post in this thread involved you using this as an example. You then later edited your post to remove it.
I then pointed out to you how one of the report options is as follows:
" It’s Trolling: This post is inflammatory, extraneous or upsetting."
Making jokes on a highly sensitive topic can be considered upsetting. You do not get to dictate what other people consider upsetting. However, the GM then removed your silence because they deemed it not upsetting. All this goes to show is that your complaint of a “false-flagging” operation is likely the offspring of your poor attempt at humor.
It’s sad, because in this day and age, opposing view points should be protected (as long as it isn’t breaking TOS). What happened to Asmongold by being silenced by being mass reported by false flaggers in game, is something that I have noticed happens a lot on these forums as well.
I don’t think this really applies. Flagging is the step before disciplinary action (i.e. it indicates to moderators that they need to review it to consider discipline) but I’d guesstimate 80% the time it doesn’t result in a vacation because it’s being misused.
There is no right to “free speech” on a private forum.
Sure, but it’s not Blizzard hiding posts, its other players. Sometimes just a few players, flagging on all of their alts because the system is broken.
He didn’t make an offensive joke in this thread.
All of us, most anyway, have said things that we got spanked for. Big deal.
It happens.
OP made a valid point with his initial post. People are using flagging to disagree with someone instead of actually bothering to have a conversation.
False flagging is against the ToS.
Remember that trans thread about the npc Blizzard is putting into SLs?
OP of that thread simply stated that that is what Blizzard is doing and that OP got downvoted into oblivion.
That is an example of what OP is saying in this thread but what I’ve seen is mostly attacks of OP’s previous comments.
That can be construed as trolling the OP, just so you know.
That’s also against the ToS. Have a g’day.
Man, talk about a strawman. I think I just found one tbh. I didn’t say “free speech” on a forum post should be protected. I said dialogue that is not breaking any TOS should.
He edited it out of the post, but he referenced a joke made in poor taste in another thread originally.
The text of the “Inappropriate” flag states that it is for:
Somebody talking about their past disciplinary actions (like OP did before they edited it) is a violation of the code of conduct.
By the letter of the law, it would not in any way be a false or misused flag.
You missed his original post before he edited it though. He complained about being silenced for posting “song lyrics.” We looked up the context of those “song lyrics.”
I didn’t make a joke about anything. Nice attempt at mischaracterization though.
