Shadowlands can be an expansion IF it does bold things by fixing many neglected systems.
Classes, professions, gearing, etc.

All opinions, and I tend to agree with the Cata bad sentiment. We lost so much at end game for the Shattering. They got a lot of us to stay with the free mount and Diablo 3 if you sub for a year. I know myself and about half my guild back then were no longer playing and literally waiting to cancel. It was the one time I really walked away, yet, rofl kept paying for a stupid horse mount. The moment I could cancel I did, plenty of others did too. This was the first real instance of a “six month mount” that this game ever had, and as has been pointed out countless times before, they usually come up at a content drought.
to me it sounds like the argus of legion i hope i am wrong
I like WoD …so you see it’s all opinions.
A valid criticism. personally I don’t care much for a new race / class just for the sake of having a new race / class. Although this would have been a great opportunity to introduce a dedicated necromancer class. I’d rather just stick to my warlock / dk though.
There’s more than one zone. Each covenant is station in their own City area, and then there’s the gaping maw and the main city hub. Possibly with new zones being added in later patches. This feels intentionally deceitful.
Allow me to play devil’s advocate. With the sheer age of the game, at what point do we say we have too many classes? Remember, each of them has to have their own unique specs. It’s a miracle the demon hunters got a second spec at all.
True, and Blizzard has no one to blame but themselves.
this is objectively false.
Hey man, do you have an argument? And no they aren’t paying me. I have my own opinion.
I hate Blizzard!
Actually pre-orders and buys cosmetics from game shop.
I’m riding on character customization as a head feature… but I’m guessing it’s just hair and eyes colors.
? Less than a year away and they can’t impart more information than the vague bits they dropped at Blizzcon? Not a good sign.
I call that smart marketing. You get a discount on your 6 month sub and a free mount. And if there’s nothing to do in the current xpac, you can level alts, farm gold, mats, craft, do PvP, BGs, pet battles.
It was fun when it wasn’t content-and-ilevel-to-player-scaling, now it is not so much anymore. I shudder to think what the level squish and homogenized levels in Vanilla and past expacs (they’ll all be 10-50) will do.
I am hoping Blizzard releases new legacy servers TBC-MoP.
Why not 1-4 per expansion, based on popularity of release? TBC would have 3, WotLK would have 3, Cata would have 2, MoP would have 2, WoD would have 1, Legion would have 3. Whichever of the (3) high volume expansions gets first to “Full” status, gets an additional server.
I’d do them in order of release.
I would like two sets of legacy servers; one so-called “museum piece” and the other a progression server.
Don’t think the servers would be able to handle the player load if only two servers available, especially if overseas players want to join in.
With a death-themed expansion, no new classes came to mind. -Ion.
…nothing at all…
Like… not even necromancer…
Blizzard can establish overseas servers, as always.
I know, right?
WoW seriously doesn’t need a new class to attract players. WoD had a huge increase in subs and it didn’t have a new class. It failed to deliver, and a new class wouldn’t have saved it. We need good content, and we need our existing classes to be engaging like they used to be. So yes, I stand by what I said, nobody really cares about a new class, and Shadowlands wouldn’t magically be good if it had a new class.
I feel like cata was in a rough place. The expansion didn’t have a great release, and I remember heroic dungeons weren’t friendly to a lot of players. Cata’s big drought was also around the time MOBA’s were becoming really popular. PvP wasn’t as good in cata and many people were flocking to League of Legends at the time of Cata/MoP. It wasn’t until WoD time where most of us really missed WoW and appreciated the character updates and everything else the expansion promised. Endgame wasn’t fun for cata, but the updates it brought us really improved the game imo.
After Warcraft III Reforged I lost hope, I am sure Shadowlands will be bad, I just hope this makes more people quit until it goes Free to play haha.
yeah yeah…“never gonna happen” yeah right, time will come, no king rules forever.
Okay Torghast and Covenants, both borrow heavily from other systems. What else are we getting that isn’t copied or rehashed from an existing system?
I don’t think adding a new class adds that much? At least not enough to make or break an expansion.
I mean look at DH, that subtracted things!
