Is it true there are only 4 classes that get to DPS?

Working as intended. The price for having the flexibility of a hybrid is that you’re not quite as effective as a pure role. If you don’t like the tradeoff, play a pure class.

Except since this is a role based game you don’t use the flexibility. Not to mention that if you actually do use that flexibility you inherently aren’t doing something.

Not a valid argument because Holy Paladins were the best single target healers in the game by far. Shaman were the ONLY AoE healers.

They all had things they did best and the ridiculous “Hybrid tax” didnt apply to their healing specs. So this doesn’t apply.

That just means they made a mistake allowing hybrid healing specs to be too strong.

Alternatively, they did it right: raids need more healers than tanks, so in end game, hybrids get to fill the extra healing spots. Working as intended.

Warriors are hybrids, and they get best DPS and best tanks. Save that hybrid garbage for someone that’s buying

What a ridiculous thing to say.

So you’re suggesting that because a class is a hybrid, they should be garbage at everything by virtue of being a hybrid? What about Warriors? They’re technically Hybrids cause they have two roles. They’re the best in the game at BOTH those roles.

This is a game BASED on roles… you’ve only made a mistake if a class has roles that aren’t practical in a notable portion of the games content.

You’re silly and this is easily the most ridiculous argument I’ve heard on the matter.

Don’t forget that in Vanilla, you can spec into multiple specs at once. The advantage hybrids get is they can switch specs on the fly to accomodate needs in 5 mans, or to fulfill both the tanking and the healing roles at the same time in multiperson world quests.

It’s pretty obvious that the hybrid tax was really just meant to pigeon hole hybrids into healing, not as a counter balance to hybridness.

Oh boy, they can heal people in world quests without being spec’d Restoration? Praise be that makes up for the fact that they’re completely impractical elsewhere!

I don’t know if you just never experienced being a Hybrid in vanilla or you just never cared about being able to do something besides healing in a raid setting but there is no way to justify a hybrid tax or those classes not being able to fill the roles they were sold.

You’re just wrong… and the direction the game went with its first two expansions (Which were met with near universal acclaim, if you recall) proves it.

then hope for them to make a BC classic. dont try and change classic for whatever reason you are trying to come up with.

The first expansion slowed the rate of subscriber growth; the second stopped it entirely. The people who liked the changes said so; the people who didn’t like the changes quietly started leaving.

If you want full parity for hybrid classes, you can get that now in live; no need for Vanilla.

This is patently false. The game continued growing until the release of Cataclysm… the Subscriber count nearly doubled between TBC and Wrath.

We’re also talking about 12 million subscribers, there is a limit, especially back then, to the size a player base could grow to.

Once again, you’re just wrong.

what do you mean by switch specs on the fly? If you wanted to switch specs in vanilla you have to fly back to a capital city and pay an ever increasing fee to reset your talents.

"If Ironfoe goes live with a 10% proc rate…it’s GFG BIS FOREVER like better than The Hungering Cold from KT lol"

BC and WOLTK were the largest the game has ever been, what are you talking about? Seriously, what information are you using to spread this misinformation (at best) and lies (at worst).

No, he’s right. WotLK had massive waves of nerfs and tons of people got pissed off and then dips in the subs happened. It went from like 12 million to 11 or something. The sub count continuously dropped from then on.

Plus that’s when Blizzard started implementing large amounts of priority based DPS.

Also, TBC had like 8-9 million subs towards the end of its lifetime.

Wrong. Growth stopped at the beginning of Wrath.

Switch roles on the fly, not switch specs on the fly. Take talents from both spec trees, and you can do both roles in a lot of content.

Definitely not the case. Also, if your guild isn’t a “try-hard” guild, you’re probably not going to be clearing anything in any kind of timely manner. Enjoy being behind the curve, clearing last patch’s raid.

I hear going from 11.5 to 12 isn’t growth. Oh wait. Just because the rate went down doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
