Is it time for PI to die?

That would be because they haven’t actually stated a reason for it yet. People keep saying it’s bad and cancerous but no one has told me why yet. At least, not in a way that doesn’t involve them doing more damage than their raidmates.

I understand that a lot of people feel very strongly about PI being cast on others and that this makes them very upset. But that doesn’t mean that we should use those feelings as a basis for changing the game or that those feelings are justified.

And I feel like you haven’t answered my question.

I guess I will spell it out more explicitly for you. FF 8 man 2 of them are tanks, 2 are healers and 4 people are dpsing usually. So 25% of the dps get the dancer buff even if the same person was given it each and every time. Also, FF groups because of the 8 man size are much more likely to be friend groups that formed raid groups by adding a few more people.

Wow groups may also start similarly with a group of friends wanting to build a guild but even a group of 5 has to more than triple their number to have a sustainable group. So now you try to build guild identity and atmosphere etc but you still have a lot more people there playing for many different reasons.

Heres a sample from just googling differences between large and small group sizes: " Social Group Sizes

Social groups come in all shapes and sizes. You may have a small family and a close group of friends, but I’m sure you know others who have a large family and a wide group of friends. In a previous lesson, we discussed the distinction between several types of social groups and how the type of group can determine group dynamics and relationships. However, the size of the group also has a significant effect on these aspects of a group." - Source: https://study.com/academy/lesson/social-groups-dyad-and-triad-in-groups-and-out-groups.html

Finally, calling us children because we don’t agree with you is pretty well… childish?

Right. The argument about it muddying the waters in regards to balance changes had merit… working from that would be reasonable, just not Joho has bigger numbers than me!

Except that they are.
One of the reasons for being a DPS is competing against your team mates.
The boss will go down regardless.

Also that player that gets PI among the others? Yeah… he doesn’t exist on the meters against the others, since that’s not his dps, he’s getting literally boosted.

So what… you want to remove one aspect of fun from DPS classes?
Nah, remove PI, it’s a trash ability.

When I’m on my priests, I give PI to myself. When I’m not on my priests, I don’t care if I get PI or not. It shouldn’t go away, it should only be a personal buff. End of debate. It was always a mistake to have it be castable ON to someone else, because everyone would complain about not having it.

Personal PI or nothing. One way or another the children will complain because they think their parses actually matter against the best in the world.

As the usual recipient of PI, I would appreciate it staying in the game

As one who knows to give PI to you during your opener, you are welcome

I see. That could certainly be the reason for the differing ways the communities handle external buffs but regardless of the reason, it does not justify designing the game around it.

Have you never wiped before?

There’s no prize for being the top DPS in your group. There is no inherent principle to DPS specs that force you to compete with your peers. When a boss dies, the entire team wins. Not just the guy who did the most damage.

And for what it’s worth, you can still have these friendly competitions among DPS. I participate in them myself because you’re right, it is fun to have friendly rivalries with your guild mates. But the rivalry is never more important than the team sport. If someone in a basketball game stopped passing because they wanted to get the most baskets of anyone on the team, you’d chew them out for not being a team player. I fail to see how this is any different.

My suggestion is to yell at warcraftlogs until they credit PI damage to the one who’s actually responsible for it: the Priest. Would that not solve the problem? Nothing in game would change. Only the way a third party site looks at the game.

Yes! It feels so good when the priest in my run sees that Breath has come off of CD and is prepared for the ramp

Guys, you missed the memo:

There’s nothing else to say about this.

PI is fine. Stop being upset because it’s never cast on you.

50-200ish times per boss during progression?

There is never any prize for being top dps ever, but players still want to be top DPS.

Stop with the nonsense arguments, you know very well that most, almost all, players want to be top. Humans themselves want to succeed.

So again, stop with the nonsense, PI is an idiotic spell that brings no good to the raiding scene.

Make it self-cast, make it a PVP talent.
Give Priests BLOODLUST for goodness sake, but just kill PI.

No it wouldn’t it still pollutes in-game.
It needs to be taken out and left in SL.

No it’s not. Stop using words if you don’t know the meaning of them.

Make PI only castable on healers and tanks, so selfish toxic competitive dps can stop crying for numbers.

Hi I’m the GM and Raid leader, of a 2 day Mythic guild, my entire guild agrees the ability is bad including the warlocks and dk’s who receive it. I’ve had players quit because they enjoyed trying to push themselves and do better and better on fights, but PI ruined that aspect of the game for them.

So we’ve told you our problems with it, how about you justify it as the only external single target almost bloodlust ability in the game among the 12 classes.

You’re just mad because Priest won’t give you PI.

Sounds like a personal problem.

I agree. Give more classes external buffs.

I don’t have to justify it.

It’s already in the game, and it looks like it’s staying in the game.

Deal with it.

I’m sad that you won’t even try. It truly is an extreme outlier ability, and if you can’t see that you are either willfully blind or intellectually dishonest.

Speaking of intellectual dishonesty, do you know what a false dichotomy is?
