This sounds like faulty logic to me. If only 2/5 people in a group are getting a haste buff and are therefore happy, why would you change it so that 0/5 people get a haste buff and so no one is happy?
I don’t have a special attachment to haste over other forms of damage buffs. How good the tempo of a class feels to play without haste buffs is a spec-by-spec issue and should be handled spec-by-spec when appropriate.
If some members of a group are angry that some members of their group are getting a haste buff and they are not… I’m sorry but they should learn to not pitch a jealous fit like children. If PI were self cast only you’d still have the issue where some group members were getting a haste buff and others weren’t (only the Priest) so in theory the jealousy issue would remain. Classes having different access to different kinds of buffing cooldowns is nothing new.
Yes, and when Haste is involved it makes things more difficult to balance because every spec feels different with Haste but they all feel better, just different levels of better. Some specs it the Haste buff makes them play 100% better, others it’s only a 10% better feeling.
You try speaking to the world like that. See how many people agree and disagree with you, or even listen.
It would be a self buff, a CD. People don’t care about self only CDs as much, because that’s a self only CD. They care about this one because you can throw it on whoever and there’s so many entitled players out there going “it should be thrown on me” – this is how the world is, for a lot of people and a lot of games, etc. It’s a different community compared to the one from Vanilla/BC/Wrath. There’s a lot less team oriented players playing this game than self centered heroes playing it, where everyone is the hero to their own story and thus are entitled to all the external buffs, all the time.
Ever notice how the only people who hate on PI are people with garbage parses?
Like, it’s fine and actually makes things more interesting than some boring passive buff. I hate these posts for the same reason I hated the posts that raged about symbiosis, that was a great ability with some interesting applications.
There are two possible solutions so that they don’t remove the PI but keep it more in line with the players:
Cause when applying PI to X ally/person they put a 3-5min debuff (like Lust and except for the priest himself who uses it), this way they can use more PI in different dps instead of a 1 or even the priest himself.
increase the CD to (4-5min) of the PI or reduce the haste it provides (10-15% haste) in exchange for an increase of 5-10sec more of the buff.
My raid group has this attitude, except they’ve applied it to PI distribution for the last 3 raid tiers. In other words… a player in the RL’s static did top dps in the first tier and from then on was the person all 2-3 priests in the group give PI to. Even when one of our off-healers switched to demo lock this tier, they rarely change who they give PI to… (which is funny as our demo lock does just as, and often more, than the PI Golden Child, without PI, so just imagine what would happen if they were fed PIs xD). It’s really annoying to see it… not really wasted but just, like, seeing someone be unable to perform to their full potential because of PI preferences.
I don’t want to get rid of PI. But I can’t deny that it causes drama.
Why I want ion to make his vision for master loot (like) to come true. I want retail to get gdkp. it is the better loot system.and it irks people. win win.
this is one drama to fire up popcorn over.
other will be the guild drama’s.
its raid week! Best geared rogue gets the slot. guess that is you tom (my friend since high school and top on the gear reserve list), again.
and in comes John. fresh from 2 weeks of gdkp. A www hell no. Best kick your boy GM. I parse better and I am full dagger/sword.
But but…how. we haven’t even gotten daggers to give to tom first.
rogue goes gdkp. and I can even tell you a really cool strat that had one run clear this boss in 5 wipes. not your 20…on a good day.
Here’s the issue with PI; everyone wants it despite some classes just being better with it than others. That’s the objective truth, but the subjective issue is that WoW like a lot of other games has “main character syndrome” where everyone that plays believes themselves to be the main character, which is 9 times out of 10 fine but when considering external buffs like PI it creates contention in an MMO since everyone wants to do the best they possibly can with every buff imaginable, despite it potentially being bad for a raid team.
One argument I’ve heard around PI is “you cant trust Sims, they only show perfect play you have to take player skill” which is wrong because sims are an average of the best and worst possibilities but I digress. At the end of the day, if PI is being used effeciently people are upset that they aren’t the main character, if PI is being used to just appease someone tripping it’s a waste and not efficient and makes it worse for 19 other people, each of them in this position too.
TL;DR just remove PI, as a warlock that’s had to deal with arguing about PI despite being the best target by far, it’s a meme and it’s a headache, remove it from the game Blizzard Gods
When only a fraction of the player base does mythic raids, why should the drama it causes in mythic raid guilds like yours prevent the vast majority of the player base (who don’t mythic raid and who have no problems with PI) from using it?
What’s more, given that the mythic raid guilds who have zero problem with PI are not posting on this topic, if we were to ban PI for a subset of a small minority, why shouldn’t we bring twinking back? Yknow, for the die hard twinking enthusiasts.
– Worse case scenario I’d say is have it be more powerful when cast on someone else than yourself - to promote synergistic teamwork like others have said.
Frankly I haven’t seen any evidence to suggest that they are. All the specs that have been nerfed while also being good PI targets were over performing independent of PI. And if I’m honest, I highly doubt Blizzard’s analytics are so primitive that they don’t take PI into account.
