Is it time for PI to die?

Yes and as you can see, Blizzard is fine with PI existing as they are still going into Dragonflight with it in the game.

Again, go take your complaints to WCL and tell them to put the DPS done toward the Priest that empowered the player.

PI is my favorite ability on my priest. I enjoy being able to buff other people’s dps during their cd’s etc. Anyone arguing that it should be removed because of logs is just trying to kill fun over their ego. If you’re parsing to improve your rank, your rank will go up if you do more damage. PI doesn’t enter the equation, regardless of whatever the top X amount of PI stacking players are doing. Your rank will go up if you do more damage, so look at your own rank rather than the top 100.

Logs are actually one of my most disliked features that third party websites provide. People go nuts over them, and most people don’t even understand how to interpret them either. PI isn’t preventing you from increasing your rank, it may be preventing you from reaching the top 100, but who cares.

Your rank is directly affected by everyone else in your class and spec, so yes if the top 200 all get externals you are almost automatically 200 ranks lower if you did not.

Yes that is true. But a lot of people are saying they like to parse to improve. You will still improve if you do more damage, barring the whatever amount of ranks got PI. If they got PI, then just ignore the x amount of ranks or just compare your rank to your current rank to see if you gained score. I just don’t see the good in removing a fun ability because of what ever the top 200 people are doing.

Well please consider that every class that was the king of PI each tier has been nerfed at the end of that tier.

Venthyr boomkins were the best PI choice in all of Sanctum. Then in Sepulcher they got a nerf and now they aren’t viable PI targets and now they are the worst dps class in Sepulcher. Did blizz overnerf them because all the data was skewed by PI? It looks that way.

Also, for boss health, do you account for PI or not. Its incredibly strong, so if you don’t groups with it do way better than groups without. Or if you do balance around it now you need it to make the checks, and groups without will struggle to meet the check.

Its implications reach far more than just they mess with logs, the log thing is a canary in a coal mine, of all these other problems it causes.

I have macros that select a group member at random, tell the group that person is getting PI, anf then I cast it on myself.

The absolute best part of that is you should absolutely be able to use your big cooldown on yourself, and yet from a dps numbers perspective that is a mistake. What a world of warcraft.

I see what you are saying, and yes it is certainly possible that they were over nerfed because of the logs giving biased info. That said, imho, Blizzard has always been godawful at balancing and I don’t trust that they wouldn’t find some other way to still f it up even if PI were removed/made self-cast. PI could be a symptom, but the disease is blizz is bad at balance.

You’re acting as if OP is going out of their way to group up with toxic players

Wow fans have a really bad habit of acting like its extremely easy to do 100% of your raids/mythics with perfect teammates

Even if you have a good guild, sometimes you have to pug with randoms

FF14 does it with crit and I’d assume haste but I’ll admit I’m not sure there. They could always make an approximation and it will be off by so little you won’t even notice

If raid balance actually hinged on the knifes edge of what’s possible with PI how are guilds selling CE carries? Literally 17 manning the raid.

Or the fact the raid has been getting bludgeoned by the nerf bat?

Balance Druid was nerfed because it was a game outlier, it was the best class in raid by a far. Right now Balance Druids are still one of the most taken classes into Mythic and their only issue is AoE damage since their tier gear doesn’t improve that.

Considering the most efficient way to use PI is to use a WA that triggers when people whisper you I doubt it.
From personal experience even in guilds this is how it works.

Of course it does. You would be an absolute idiot to not put PI on the class/player that is already doing 20% higher dps than all the alternatives.
So if you want PI you better be playing those better specs.
The dps difference between an average spec and FotM these days is larger than any better PI synergy accounts for.

If one spell has seriously caused your static to stop logging into the game, then yes, this is a serious issue and I agree that something needs to be addressed.

But honestly I am having a really hard time buying into that statement. I can understand how all the complaints from your group can influence your opinion of PI, but I can’t imagine that it’s the source of your issue.

I don’t think PI should go away but I would prefer that it was a personal CD. I don’t enjoy giving it to other players when I am on my priest, I like to feel powerful ya know. Sure it’s always an option to use it on myself but if I am playing with other people then I will do what’s best for the team.

To remove PI we have to prove its bad side over weights the good side, which is hard to do because the spell impacts the game and the community in so many ways.

That being said when people claim only salty and bad players that don’t get pi complain about it I have to disagree. There are many 95% parses warlocks on wcl who don’t get pi and they are hardly salty and bad, not to mention warlocks are the default class to receive pi so other good players playing other classes certainly are not getting it. The existence of pi exacerbates the Matthew Effect.

PI is supposedly a group utility but when in practice it is always given solely to the most broken spec and players playing it the spell starts to encourage fotm rerolling and toxicity.

Giving it to the most broken spec IS group utility.

pi nowadays is basically a hidden buff to the fotm class. It also creates balancing issues on which ever class getting it. If blizzard are to keep pi they should really consider the toxicity and balancing difficulties the spell has on the game.

Not quite, it’s a bit more complicated than that. It also depends a lot on how well a class scales with haste. For example, Ravenous Frenzy balance druid was popular for PI because RF scaled extraordinarily well with haste due to the covenant legendary. Even if arcane mage was completely busted, you wouldn’t give them PI because mana (and therefore how fast your CDs come up) is usually the limiting factor, not the GCD.

Imagine if resource cost reduction was a stat in addition to haste. Classes which would want that stat would generally be poor PI targets since resources are generally at odds with haste. Haste is one of the most universally liked secondaries, but it still doesn’t help all classes equally.

You vastly overestimate how many people use that specific wa  seriously, try the ignore feature in pugs. It’s amazing.

100% I pi the better players. That’s not always fotm I assure you. Rerollers can be pretty bad a lot of the time.

The difference is pretty big this patch. How in the hell is that a pi issue :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: that’s a blizzard balance issue as I stated. If Blizzard actually did some class balancing at the end of the patch. You can’t give pi to everyone and you can’t run all one class very effectively. Different classes are good at different things.

Anyways… It’s a fun support class type ability. Stop being so weak minded and upset that you don’t get pi. Holy moly.
