I am going to be a “toe dipper”. I like moving forward rather than backwards. Although I do respect others and their desire to go back to classic, it not for me. Guess I have the been there done that mentality here.
Plus I’m tired of talking about this fail of dang expansion wheres 8.2/classic at? <.< >.>
Of course Classic is going to be big on Twitch right now because of the hype and not much else going on. I’ll be a “toe dipper” in Classic since my first account was the middle of Wrath and I am curious about somethings in it. But to me it seems like classic is going to have a short shelf life of popularity since once you hit max its going to become pretty stale and that wall you will hit is going to turn people off.
Tbh it was safe to say that when people have been playing vanilla private servers for years lol.
Of course it’s safe to say that.
I’m willing to try because of the classes depth that we had back there. Yes, classes had less features (no unique resources, for example), but they had much more depth than the retail ones.
Maybe. The positivity definitely has me rethinking my naysaying a bit. But this is still very early days and a very small audience. There was always going to be a lot of initial interest, and I’m sure that will be the case again when it goes live. The real test will be what it looks like in 6-12 months down the line.
Playing solo for free loot shouldn’t be one of them…
How about wait for it to be released, THEN wait another month until people get sick of playing a game over from the start that they already did and don’t have enough mana to kill a level 17 boar in Westfall.
Something that’s refreshing to hear…
See what you don’t get is having to manage mana, health, how many mobs you pull is all part of what people loved about classic. It brought a sense of challenge and danger out in the world.
Only way you can die in retail is if you pull an entire zone… And more than likely you’ll still probably survive…
In raids sure, I agree. Questing alone in the middle of nowhere, killing an unnamed random quest mob with no special abilities? I am interested to see how massive the Classic movement is going to be. Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to try it like most other people.
Ill do the bare minimums in bfa when classic is out. Mythic 10 and maybe a raid. Then back to leveling. Im switching sides so it will be mostly new for me playing horde instead of alliance.
Good luck finding mailboxes in low level Horde zones. It’s terrible! Alliance has it much better with the logistical stuff.
nah i ain’t going to be forced to play either side if i want to play a certain class. all the whining i seen on these forums about new classes, new races, ya right everyone’s gonna love it. and to whoever said classes had depth back then, ya right. boredom pretty much no depth. kind of reminds me leveling with only a couple buttons to hit boring.
That is exactly what it is. Well over half of the people who login on Day 1 won’t make it to level 20. Vanilla will retain a respectable but not eye-popping population.
You’ll have plenty of people to raid, to pvp, etc… but please stop embarrassing yourself with this “it’ll kill the main game” drek.
Please show us where the mean casual touched you.
Lol, nope.
My main concern with classic is the community will make it unbearable for the sane. Skimming the posts here, a good number of classic people are belligerent and egotistical.
Despite the tedium of what classic will bring and it being a walking simulator until level 40, it’s going to crush BfA in gameplay. But that doesn’t necessarily mean a large number of people are going to make the switch from the action game wow has become to the rpg it was. Classic is going to take a commitment that I’m not sure most people are willing to make, judging by their constant screaming whenever a QoL feature is removed (see portals).
See what you don’t get is having to manage mana, health, how many mobs you pull is all part of what people loved about classic. It brought a sense of challenge and danger out in the world.
What you are listing tended to be a staple of MMORPGs at the time. It was nothing new, and I feel what people loved about Classic is that is was less punishing than other MMORPGs. Leveling was fast compared to the some the MMOs that I played. Death was just a little slap on the wrist, not losing my items or xp…amazing.
As of now MMOs are fading but RPGs are on the rise. It will be interesting to see how people response to old style rpg elements being back in the game. Will they like this time intensive game play or will they long for something more. The other thing is addons, which could change how the game is played as well.
For the folks that want to play classic, I am happy for you. Yet, could we stop bashing retail already.
You know, someone said that “Classic people are the vegans of the WoW universe.” It seems so right on the nose.
