If someone obtains gold through the AH/trades and that gold was gained from RMT, is it blizzard’s policy to ban the person who obtained RMT gold as well?
Official information on this please.

The forums arent staffed 24/7 and considering u were banned for that id say the answer is yes.
You’re welcome here.
Just hoping to get some clarity.
Hello Falsebans,
You are trying to rules lawyer here. You’re only option is the appeal. There is a possibility an SFA (Blue) will come along tomorrow and offer some clarity. But then, again, they may not and just let the normal process proceed.
The normal process is, make an appeal if you disagree with the action. It will get looked at and overturned if incorrect. If they let it stand it means they have good evidence. You can keep doing the appeals until they say no more and then that is it.
Good luck.
Read his other thread if u want some clarity.
Yeah I know, I saw that one and there’s other posts in the SoD forums too. Just trying to bring home that the appeals is the only route.
I feel the issue is bigger than myself.
Honestly, I’d love to be off the topic as it’s been quite draining.
I don’t know the reality of my situation.
I could be either
A: rightfully banned under tos for coming into contact with RMT gold that someone else bought of which I did not know of - and had no agency to detect.
B: mistakenly banned as someone who bought gold.
Knowing which one of those is the case is important for me to move on here.
I feel there’s a pretty sizeable difference between actually buying gold and unknowingly coming into contact with RMT gold.
I would think there is a distinction between those categories, and that the solutions are proportional to the offenses, but I’m not feeling too confident that that’s the case at the moment.
If I feel there could be a legitimate injustice or problem here, I want to pursue gaining attention to that.
Respectfully, I understand that there isn’t much personally I can do, but I do feel like what I am doing is important.
Honestly u didnt need a duplicate u mite have goten a answer in the morning in ur original thread here.
I could fill dozens of posts from our SFAs from the previous six months when they really started going in hard on RMT - no matter if it was the direct person or someone who received tainted gold from GDKPs, Trades - all manner of transactions. These are just a handful I could easily grab. And to emphasize - these are all people who reportedly received tainted gold. None (to my knowledge) were the direct person who knowingly participated in RMT. They got sanctioned for trusting someone who gave them gold for X reason.
Source Context: Traded gold between two different iterations. They thought they researched someone with “good reviews” in a very well known Discord server that facilitates such things. Person received gold directly from RMT mule and was sanctioned.
So in other words, no more trade windows. Only buy and sell through the AH.
Unfortunately, due to so many unscrupulous players and illegal accounts, that would be my suggestion.
They look for patterns of behavior. It is absolutely possible to use the AH to trade stolen gold. It’s a favorite tactic of gold sellers. They have the “customer” put up a linen cloth or something for a huge amount and then buy it. Blizzard will absolutely catch on to this.
If you are just doing NORMAL auction house activity, and someone happens to buy something with stolen gold, it’s unlikely that the person selling the items would be sanctioned. Unless there is a pattern of behavior showing that they are deliberately associating with gold sellers. Because the auction house is a supported activity.
I locked your other thread, no need for two.
Everything has been covered. In your case - I’d just be especially careful when dealing in large sums - with very low level characters. You have no way of knowing that’s their alt - or if they are lying. Make’em condense their own gold, THEN trade with your customer.
That’s really the only advice I can possibly offer.
Hey, that makes total sense to me.
I probably had over 3,000 gold in transactions that day which is SOD is an absolutely massive amount.
The situation in question, a guy tells me in-game (which should be visible in the game logs) that he needs to log his alt characters to get me the gold.
To blizzard I can see how it looks like my account received 50-60g randomly from two level 1 ones without any prior history between those characters.
I can see how someone could judge that as RMT.
However, in the larger context of my account, I had a huge volume in trades that day. If someone’s making 100+ trades in a day, something sketchy is a lot more likely to happen.
I think it’s important to consider, Is someone whos making 1,000+ gold in a day really risking their account to buy 50g through RMT, or is that type of preson not quite the demographic that engages in gold buying.
I really think there’s a mistake here of not looking at the whole picture of my trading history, and man, after having an appeal denied which I was 100% sure would be approved.
I’m not having a lot of faith that this will get successfully appealed unless I fight for it.
It seems well possible to me that a GM will see those (what appears to be unsolicited) trades and make a judgment on my ticket without delving any further into my account.
I appreciate what’s been done to combat the gold selling issues, but man, it feels like I’ve fallen through the cracks in a big way.
They follow the gold from where it is stolen from to the destination and in between. Now they are getting way more proactive about fighting the gold selling. Like the blue said I would shy away from doing any trades with level 1 characters.
I can understand that, and respectfully, I’m going to shy away from accepting a black mark on my account that I didn’t deserve.
That is in everyone’s best interest here.
Good luck to you
That black mark wont go away unless the apeal is successful it stay there forever.
5 days no response on my appeal.
The trade where the guy paid me across 3 of his characters, leading to my suspension is easily visable between us within the chat logs prior to trade.
7 Days now… suspendeddddddddd.
Notice Orlyia said large sums of gold! So 50gold is not a large sum, So might be something your not remembering.
