After the recent nerfs ( let me add the pet nerfs were justified) its just highlighted how similar hunters play to normal classic now. Kill Command now only works with Bite/Claw, which would lock us into a Cat, which its been for the past 19 years (classic era, no nuance in pet choice). All the best dps runes are passives, chimera and explosive hit like wet noodles now (aside from the mana issues we have trying to use these). Yes the damage is still pretty decent, but its the gameplay i’m talking about, for example paladins got 3? extra buttons to press which changed up their gameplay by quite a large chunck.
I was enjoying the class before with having different pets/runes for different situations, where as now i feel “shoehorned” into Beast Mastery, Sniper Training, and the Lion aspect (aura).
I know our DPS is still really good, and again please don’t mistake me complaining about the DPS, its just the gameplay is just the same as normal classic.

I’ve been talking about this since the explosive shot nerf. You’ll be hard pressed to find any allies here outside of other hunters, due to Warcraft Logs brainrot.
I’m working on a chart that shows just how much DPS each rune gives. Our leg runes are especially abysmal.

The crazy thing is i’m not asking for buffs or reverted nerfs, just different gameplay. Why anybody who doesnt play hunters would be against that is lost on me honestly.

Can’t wait to see the Lone Wolf rune showing negative dps comparing to no rune at all

i just got warbringer on my warrior and a nice slow 1h from the raid for devastate. I am now a warrior…
Nobody is asking for buffs. We just want our runes to be useful and not a net negative or wash, and to seem like that there is a vision for our class and some synergy with the talents we have order to make builds like other classes have been able to.
I haven’t seen anybody complaining that they think the bugged/overpowered stuff should still be in the game. Hunters are just told to shut up and enjoy the fact that they are doing so and so amount of DPS in a level 25 raid. Like I said, it’s brain rot.

You put it perfectly, nice to see others understand, thanks.

I doubt it, seems like this type of request is beyond the skill of this incompetent development team.

Is your serpent spread and chimera actually bugged? I’ve seen people say it is.
when you look at the dps meters do you also look at the damage received meters? This is the main reason hunter damage cannot be insane! Hunter is a ranged class that is BEEFY. They cant have insane damage and never get hit because they shoot from distance. You have to consider the perk of range and not just look for a one variable answer like “IM NOT #1 DPS METER SAY SO SO IM BAD LOL”
It is not about meters, it is not about where you get to stand, it is about the fact that every hunter rune except for aspect of the lion is dogwater. none of them feel fun, none of them feel unique, none of them DO anything.

It would not have to be a damage increase. it could be something like lone wolf giving the hunter a passive mana regen for example.
For melee hunter could be that flanking strike could allow you to use mongoose bite while the buff is up, as well as making the damage of mongoose bite be modified by your weapon speed for instance. Also changing the duration of the buff to 20 seconds, while making the chance for raptor strike to proc a reset at 10% would keep the idea of it being rarer to get many stacks but give you more chances to get stacks. (feels better than having a very short time to get stacks at a higher chance for resets.)
I don’t know for sure* about bugged, but they’re very bad even if they’re not from what I can tell, especially serpent spread. The original ability (serpent sting) is terrible and doesn’t scale, why would six seconds of it instead of 15 be any better?
EDIT: It feels like someone wrote up the idea for that rune ASSUMING that serpent sting scaled, and then everyone else on the team forgot to mention that it doesn’t.

I would assume the rune was designed to be used with chimera, i.e. so you didn’t have to put up the sting first and you can save that mana. But people say that doesn’t work.
It would you are correct, if they made the serpent spread rune now make serpent sting scale with AP or something that would be a start at least

Probably, but then…who wrote up the idea for Chimaera while forgetting that Chimaera was originally designed for an era of the game where serpent sting scaled??

Someone who hasn’t played a classic hunter maybe haha
Along with arcane shot. Both those scale off spell power in classic. I’d still also like to see them give us one new button to push.

Someone suggested this elsewhere, but we should get the scaling without being locked into a rune for it because the current damage is just so bad that it would almost certainly render unusable the other runes in the slot if the scaling is proper.
I for one am suprised there was no Steady shot rune at launch
