Is Hiding Your Character Shameful?

Well, based on how long this post has been up, and how few likes it has received, I think it’s safe to say that “nope, not many find it shameful at all”.
I’d even go so far as to say that most don’t care if it gives ‘no credibility’ in a strangers eyes.

People are stupid and like to judge on merits of others compared to their own
If you give strait facts and let those who see, hear or learn the
opportunity to decide then the viewer is the winner.

Any post that can’t speak for itself and/or is relying on “I am the mythic world plus extreme gladiator so do what I say” as its only support is already a post I can ignore on its own merits. This is probably why in 14 years of forum going I’ve never felt compelled to look up a single armory.

On the content I do / that affects me, I feel I can judge for myself if someone is making credible statements. I suppose that on the content I do not do, i.e., competitive PVP, it is possible I could be fooled, but then again those aren’t the posts I’m reading deeply anyway because I already know from the start it doesn’t apply to me.

Weird how most of the people replying have been people on alts and hidden profiles. Almost as if they take personal issue with their credibility being checked when they post opinions

Does it really matter?

And as someone who only has 17 posts you are the authority on trust.
We get it.
You don’t obviously.

You seem stuck on this idea that the profile lends or detracts from credibility, it doesn’t.

All of my posts have been pretty much on this post. Look at my profile, I play the game rather than posting on the forum. Almost as if I’m living by the argument I’m making

No my dear, that’s not what you said at all. You said that you feel that anyone who hides their character profile has zero merit in your eyes; you then went on to ask others if they shared the same opinion as you. When some didn’t and told you so, you lashed out at them, trying all sorts of devious ways to dismiss them.

You’re not interested in having a discussion. You just want to dictate how you believe the world should work, and anybody who doesn’t fit inside that small little space with you, isn’t worthy of consideration.

I do so love irony. Please, keep going. You’ve made my day, and I’d to finish off on a high mark.

Even weirder when you disregard reasons people have told you as to why others may be ‘hiding’ on alts, yet you ignore that and comment regardless.
It’s almost as if you’re clutching at straws and really have nothing else to say on the matter. It’s almost as if you’ve realized no-one else really cares. Deep down you must know then that it’s possibly a personal issue.

I don’t care about Armory-hiding.

But shadow alting?

Post on a 120, you coward.

You are just so intimidating Mr. Orc :frowning: so scary. My main is running into the hills now as I type this.

Well, you’re definitely wasting time here when you could be playing.

The only valid argument I have seen against me was the guy who said he plays to level because that’s what he enjoys. If you have a good reason why you personally hide your character I’d love to hear it.

It just seems like all of you like using forums and don’t want people to be critical of you. That’s fine, but call a spade a spade.

I’m not even sure how to hide the character. I just post on the character I’m playing on.

We’ve given you plenty, which you discard out of hand. At this point there is no further point in continuing the discussion because you seem unwilling to examine another viewpoint other than your own.

No please don’t say that Mr. Orc. Your hammer of judgement is too much. I feel the pressure of your eyes glaring at my avatar.

I see… well if you are the arbiter of what is a valid and/or invalid reason, I feel I have nothing else I could possibly say to you Mr Almighty Wise-One.
You carry on being concerned about what others are doing, I myself will just take other posters at face value as I already do most of the time.

Because this is my forum main, you can easily find all of my 189 posts on these new forums so far. (And before that, the thousands on the original forums.) I’d argue that alone is more valuable for knowing about me than the stats on any one of my dozen plus characters.

But my bigger point is: I challenge you to find a single one of my posts where it would matter what my armory said or didn’t say. That’s because when I make a post, I try to explain my point in that post using whatever reasons I have. None of which are ever “I got AOTC two weeks before you so I am more glamorous and better looking than you.” (even though of course that’s usually the case :grinning:)

Then what are the reason? I’ve seen several people saying they play alts mostly so they post on alts. I have made it very clear I take no issue with that and only find a problem when people are posting about PvE and PvP content.

You post on an alt so people can’t be critical of your experience when you post opinions. That’s all that it is. If you could at least just admit that to yourself then you’d be making huge strides. Why do you care what other people think of how much you play a video game? If you think your opinion is still valid when you’ve barely played then post your opinion. All I’m saying is people should be entitled to know if the opinion is coming from an experienced source
