I’ve noticed on most of the posts where people are either praising or criticizing BFA they’re posting on alts or hiding their armory. It doesn’t invalidate what they’re saying, but it definitely gives them close to zero credibility in my eyes.
So, people who hide their mains, what are you ashamed of?
I don’t know how to unhide my armory. Even when I’m set to online instead of appear away, and there’s no check in the box for ‘show only achievements’ thing in game, I don’t get the button to view my profile. Workaround I had was to find someone with a view profile button, click that, then replace the realm and name in the url with my realm and name. I made a favorites button on my browser for my profile now.
As for the rest, I’m not sure why people hide their characters but suppose it only matters for high profile people. 99% of us are so unfamous, there’s no lasting impact from what we post. The other 1% are likely not as famous as they think either. (Remembering Blake Shelton talking about getting a golf-clap on the first episode of the Voice, and realizing he wasn’t as famous as he thought he was. :))
I have <5 posts on the forums and my profile is not hidden.
I understand that people have valid criticism, but it’s hard for me to take a poster’s ideas seriously when they hide their armory. The armory just provides proof that the ideas are coming from an informed place, rather than just parroting other posts.
Maybe in the Community section it should be allowed to be hidden; but in the Classes, PvP, and Gameplay forums it seems like a necessity.
You literally just did an ad hominem attack on me.
If you are posting your opinions on the game in the official forums I don’t think it’s unreasonable for others to be able to see your experience. Maybe you think BFA is trash, maybe you love it, but if you’ve barely even played it how informed are you really?
Once again, what are you ashamed of? You’re hiding your own profile, why?
When the new forums came up they defaulted to this particular toon so that is where I’ve spent most of my time posting. It’s also odd that posts aren’t shared across account and are character specific (or am I crazy and misreading the stats?) so if you swap characters on the forums it doesn’t attribute everything/keep you posted on thread updates/etc.
You can’t hide the armory profile I don’t think. You can hide your posting activity and such, but your armory is always there available to be viewed even if the link isn’t there when clicking on a person’s forum avatar. You just have to go the actual wow armory and search for the person there or at least that is my understanding.
This is my main, I am nothing special, if you want to check my profile and judge my gaming performance then please do, if however you feel the need to judge me as a human cus I didn’t get AOTC Antorus, or only managed to down Kruul after the crucible buffs and when over geared then keep it to yourself.
I designed and built my own chicken coop, my chickens love it, I get eggs everyday, that’s the really important stuff to ME, not hiding what I haven’t or have done in warcraft.
LOL OP. Shameful… in a game?
Yeah, I can hardly live with myself. Whatever will my family and friends think of me? I’m surprised I can even sleep at night!
I assume you tried logging out of the forums today(forums specifically, not the game) and logging back in then? I as well as others in the thread were able to get our profiles to show by doing so. I didn’t even realize mine wasn’t showing till then.
Hiding my profile gives people like the OP the opportunity to feel superior and make ridiculous assumptions. I feel that in some small way I’m contributing to their happiness and self-worth simply by clicking a checkbox.
Nope, I pointed out you are wanting to use the persons armory to discredit people based on their progress which is the definition of ad hominem.
Case in point.
If we are talking about something like raiding, people such as yourself would go to the armory and look at the persons raid history then dismiss what they are saying based on “you haven’t even killed x on x difficulty”.
If you aren’t ashamed why are you posing on an alt? I’ve seen a lot of people critical of me for asking the question, but nobody arguing why it’s valid.
The other guy said it was to keep a high post count, but I don’t see how that helps your credibility on the forums. If you want people to take your opinion on the game seriously shouldn’t you be able to at least show them you’ve played it? The criticism of a 8/8M raider seems a little more valuable than a boosted 110.
