She is standing on her own as a character though. Now I’m not a shipper and I don’t care if they develop that or not (though I do want to see it to piss off the racists). But a relationship that develops organically does not cheapen a character.

It’s because most people don’t think he’s manly enough, and according to most people having a girlfriend earns you ‘manliness’ points. As an asexual guy myself, it’s endlessly frustrating people considering you some kind of broken dude for not constantly chasing girls.

Yeah, a relationship that develops organically doesn’t cheapen a character, of course. That’s true. But we’ve had her for less than two weeks, and the “love interest” role is telegraphed so strongly that threads like this exist.
It’s also not a unique phenomenon for female characters to be introduced as love interests and end up only serving to prop up a male character and his story, rather than driving her own. Faerin has enough going on for herself that I can safely say she isn’t a one-to-one example of that, but my caution is borne of years of that happening in various media and my own lack of trust in Blizzard’s writing.
But who knows? Maybe they’ll surprise me.
Right but I’m just saying that doesn’t have to happen. It can lead to something in the future and not right away, after she has a chance to shine in this expansion.
Yeah, I get it. If it has to happen at all, I would rather it happen later on after she has her own development, we agree on that. I just don’t have a lot of trust in Blizzard to begin with and I have my own reasons to be skeptical, as I said.

My only problem with Faerin is that she’s a smidge too precious. It was the playing with orphans in her downtime that finally gave me diabetes.
It’s like they took all of Dragon Flight’s schmaltz and focused it like a laser-beam onto her.
