I know i’l never play on a PvP server cause i don’t like to PvP much (though i do it on an occasion in Retail), but this just further cements that knowing that dispelling on a PvP Classic server will be considered griefing, especially by some streamer that will ban you for it if they don’t like that.
Kind of a shame honestly, since i do enjoy myself PvP sometimes in Retail. That would be like if i was banned for the same exact thing on retail for dispelling people’s buffs, or spellsteal them.
People should probably read the Blue post in this very thread.

I have read it, but it’s the very simple fact that it happened at all what cements my desire to not be on one.
If this was a one time thing, then that would be fine and dandy. I just highly doubt though until i see otherwise.
He bravely wrote with his pve server character.
It’s almost as if you think you’re insulting them for rolling on a pve realm. Some people know they don’t enjoy the shenanigans that come with playing on a pvp realm, so they avoid it. Others know what they’re getting into, make characters on a pvp realm anyways, and then complain about every dirty trick that gets used, and wonder why there’s no sympathy. Maybe 15 years ago When the game was still new and fresh and we were still figuring it all out, but now? Nope.

Then there’s nothing that should concern you. The takeaway here is that this is not considered griefing. The ban was lifted, the GM reportedly fired.
Look, there’s nothing Blizz can do about rogue GMs abusing their power in the heat of the moment. Unless every decision a GM makes is run up the flag pole in real time. Which is unrealistic. All they can do is review their behavior and act accordingly…which Blizzard did in record time for them. I’m sure all other GMs have heard about this incident and are now scared sh*tless not to abuse their power and lose their job. The chances of something like this happening in the near future are extremely unlikely.
Streamers likewise don’t want to lose face and look as bad as this guy, so I doubt they’ll ever try to have a GM friend play favorites for them.
because he doesn’t want to deal with the pvp. Hm…

Stop pretending that the complaint is about the entirety of wpvp. This is a specific thing that has virtually nothing to do with pvp combat.
The fact that a member of Goon Squad is the one person championing dispelling as breaking the rules is hilarious.
So by your logic mind-control should be illegal. Fearing people into npcs is illegal. Sapping them so they can’t quest is illegal. Polymorph just wastes players’ time. The list could go on and on and on. The problem isn’t these actions. The problem is people rolling on a pvp server wanting a pve experience. So deal with your choice.

I appreciate the advice, i’m just going to reject it.
Exactly, i 100% agree with that.
Infact, dare i say it, getting banned for dispelling world buffs is pretty silly.
Dispelling buffs on another player is a PvP interaction (heck, dispelling enemy buffs is basic combat interaction in general), since PvP essentially just means ruining another player’s day by via killing them or messing them around and such. If you don’t want that to happen in a PvP server, i don’t know what to tell you then.
Not to mention, this all happened while somebody was streaming. You can’t really stream and complain about stream sniping because your broadcasting your ingame location in the multiplayer game that anybody can get in at anytime, which is why i think it’s a silly rule, but i digress.
My problem comes from the fact it happened that makes me worried if i do step into a PvP Server in the future. But as i said, if it is truly a one off thing and the rest of the proverbial ride is smooth sailing, i.e no bans or even ban and then uplifted, then yes, i do have nothing to be concerned. That has to be seen in the future and not just now, because that sort of thing is a big “wait and see what happens”. Bans and even uplifted bans can set a precedent.
They already changed the game to make honorless targets immune to mind control. :\
I totally made the right choice. I get to pick herbs without a care. I can level alts wherever I want without being camped - even STV. I can go afk in front of BWL if I wish and NEVER lose my buffs.
You chose to roll on a PvP server. You need to learn to deal with your poor choices.

Hold on while I reroll on a PVE server because of my opinion of a single lame non-combat L12 tool for griefing folks heading into a raid.
You’re being dishonest. You know there are a plethora of things that don’t involve draining your opponent of their HP that are integral parts of PvP. Poly, stuns, traps, MC’s, and yes - DISPELS! In fact, if you have dispels in your toolkit and you’re not using them for PvP, you should really never PvP again.
Shame on you for having to be told this from someone playing on a PvE server.

So is popping out of Ghost Wolf to one Cap a low level. Totally PvP. It’s acceptable behavior, even if it’s low brow:

The Game Master staff will not intervene in Player versus Player (PvP) disputes.
World of Warcraft Classic
If you do not wish to engage in regular PvP combat in WoW Classic, you must create your character on a Player versus Environment (PvE) realm. On a PvE realm, you can freely choose when you want to engage in open world PvP combat by enabling or disabling your PvP flag.
If you chose to create your character on a PvP realm, Game Masters will not address situations where you are repeatedly killed by the opposite faction. This includes situations that may be considered dishonorable

I’m sure it was because somewhere a horde got MC’d off a boat.
Dear Blizzard Devs,
Misadventure is a sad, sad cow because he’s being inconvenienced on his PvP server. Please remove all abilities from PvP that aren’t direct damage abilities, as he defines these as “non-combat.”
P.S. He is horde, so I’m sure you’ll consider this request
Yours Truly,
Bodicca
Why did you roll on a pvp server in the first place?

Careful, now. It doesn’t like “tough” questions, like this. It’s considered to be “mental gymnastics”, with them. Can’t poke holes in their sob stories. Gotta show them our crocodile tears

Because otherwise you miss out on half the game, man! The danger . . . the excitement . . . the dispels!
