No cc. Tank carelessly pulling tons of mobs without holding agro well, threat is everywhere damage is everywhere but healer doesn’t LoM or oom almost ever… The only reason they could do sm is taking advantage of the low damage classic beta currently has … they Outlast the fights with heals… If the mobs did respectable damage the healer would oom much sooner way before the end of the fight & retreat or die are now the options… So if this stays as is… Then groups will never fear dying, running dungeons will become brainless & not fun.
I could solo most of SM at 47 on my hunter, which I did a fair bit because it was the cheapest way to get bags back then. And that wasn’t with twink gear
yep, vanilla was actually really easy. your memories are flawed / people were awful back then.
just take a look at MC : most bosses are tank-and-spank with no mechanic, the rest are soo laughable you wonder how people wiped on them ( barron geddon ? have the one person with a bomb move 10 feet out?)
They don’t have a great knowledge about the game it was something new… Unlike now Expansions over expansions. It was a new GAME.
Nowadays, everyone knows exactly what is going on … Like if you compare the current Mythic raiding to the old Vanilla raiding it’s almost like a joke , Vanilla mostly tank + spank or move from the fire and equip the right resistance gear plus the Flasks/food etc. that’s it… Nowadays, Mythic raiding requires a lot of ****. so many mechanics.
Vanilla is a joke now, It will never be the same experience as it once used to be back then in 2004.
hunters DPS’ing , aka ranged attack cannot be dodged or parried ( so they only have the base miss % chance). they can FD to reset aggro, if the pet die they can just resummon it… basically they don’t produce much aggro at all.
Simply put by Urstuugoor. People have actually no idea what they asked for. The raiding mechanics in wow right now are more challenging than anything vanilla has to offer throughout the entire game. All you guys have asked for is just a longer way to max level, and classes with more uniqueness to them, yet half the specs in the game are not optimal and will never be used, as well as a less diversified class pool since people will mostly run Mage, Warrior and Rogue as these were some of the strongest classes in WoW PvE and PvP
Keep in mind the PvP will also be significantly more unbalanced and also easier, since you can absolutely 1 shotted by anyone with better gear than you. People also run out of mana and die a lot faster in PvP. The challenge that came from vanilla was really just Managing threat and Mana, and leveling was tedious and you have to walk everywhere until level 40 unless you’re like a druid or a shaman. So yeah, this is what you guys asked for, a game where it will require talking to people and making friends to make things happen, and if you want to really be ahead in the late game for pvp, you basically need to pick certain classes to do really well vs classes that are viable but not optimal and have to put in a whole lot more work to match classes that have to put in very little or average work.
I mean, are you sure you have the right game for that?
cause most of your 1-60 game will be spend auto attacking / spamming a single button. your most intense challenge will be CC’ing the dude on the left while you kill the dude on the right.
dungeon ( yes, back in 2004) were tuned so easy shaman could tank them with a shadow priest healing ( you’ll find multiple post of people bragging about their shaman tanking… or heck, their hunter pet tanking). rogue solo’ing the bar in BRD for their shankers, priest solo’ing maraudon princess, 5 DPS’er completing the early RFK/WC dungeon ( not that your warrior tank actually knew to spam sunder back in 2004)
the only challenge classic has to offer is a challenge of patience… because everything take time.
I wouldn’t sweat it. The game hasn’t launched yet. That’s what testing is for, eh? For me, even if it’s a white-wash, it’s better than current low level wow, just to have the old content back. And if it’s horribly awful, I just cancel my sub again before my 3 months is up
I watched the Herod kill and you are blowing the situation way, way out of proportion.
They are geared and the tank is exceptionally buffed with what appears to be 2.2k HP. By the end of the fight, healer and was OOM and you had Esfand off healing.
Again, I’m a retail player so I don’t really have a cart in this race.
That said, consider all the things we learned since leveling up in Vanilla:
1: pre-casting
2: optimal stats
3: mouse-turning
4: down-ranking heals
5: every mechanic the enemies have
6: optimal talenting
7: General improvements in executing.
Besides which, the only difference that levels have in terms of fighting enemies from my recollection is the accuracy and frequency of critical hits/crushing blows.
To make up for that, they’re going in rocking gear that far exceeds what anyone actually doing that area leveling would have.
If you’re so sure it’s undertuned, go check videos from vanilla and verify the damage from back then. Otherwise, the difference is probably just like they said: nostalgia filter.
Also at the time of the video Blizz even acknowledged that Hunters were broken and had to be fixed. Something about basic attacks could not miss or some such. So using a video of a Beta test with something acknowledged by Blizz as being broken as proof that they nerfed release which hasn’t been out yet is be honest one of the dumbest things I have read on the internet in the last week.
It’s really not that much of an issue. In the vid, it’s a war, priest, and 3 hunters. They use the hunter pets to tank some which lessens the dmg and hunters because they dont get glancing blows. This group was literally stacked with the classes to make it possible. Not to mention they had already farmed the top gear they could have likely from 35+ elite quests were the gear had no lvl requirements.
This won’t be near the case in classic. So stop with the sky is falling bull …
