Is Cata Classic dead?

Legitimate question.

Seen like 2 other players total, and have been queued for a dungeon for coming upto 3 hours now. (As a tank)
This some XIV kinda times.

There are more raid logs submitted per week in Cata than Era, Anniversary and SoD combined.

It’s not dead if you’re raiding, it’s dead if you’re doing anything else though.

it’s not dead but the lack of attention from blizzard has made it pretty lackluster. Bugs still present from day 1

It’s not fully dead yet but it’s getting pretty close.
They need to rush MoP asap imo.

It’s fine.

Plenty of dungeons and BG’s popping.

With the Joyous journeys buff, plenty of levelers too.

Most of those raid logs are people with multiple toons/accounts. Actual player count is low. If you subtract the EXTREMELY LARGE numbers of gold sellers/bots that have made selling WoW gold and GDKPs their profession then you’d have even less players.

And those BGs/dungeons are populated in large part by gold sellers and bots farming gear for GDKPs.

Maybe you are on a low pop realm? At max level its more then fine. Also Im level 75 now and have no issues getting groups in rdf

It’s about where it was expected to be. Firelands was…fire, for a couple of weeks, people started getting their staves and put Rag on farm, things are falling off as folks start raidlogging, DS will drop and see a small resurgence for people who want to see things through, interest will quickly drop since DS is a pretty mid raid overall that just gets worse toward the end, the dedicated will finish their daggers, prepatch will drop and people will start working on alts, then Pandaria will begin the cycle anew

if you are alliance on oceanic servers yes

Are you playing on a XIV private server or something? Queue times are no where near that long

As a 42 paladin? Of course it’s slow. Almost everyone is playing cata and doing cata dungeons. Finding groups for vanilla dungeons when almost no one is leveling alts is going to be slow

Yep I’ve found horde RDF more lively than alliance, but alliance is not so bad.

I top off 2 final almost there chars on nights off from anniversary with the JJ.

open world can be slow, but I actually like it like that. I am well versed in how fun 8+ dudes in the same area is from anniversary.

Best I get there is its kill animal quests. and they aren’t skinners. Free leather ftw!.

Inb4 group up…the other people must want to group up to be a group lol.

mop is coming in August

That would be horrible lmao

yes our server is dead empty , im waiting for MOP now

people are still playing that azn game?

Its the most populated version of classic(unless fresh surpasses it at some point) people just aren’t leveling. Plenty of dungeons/raids at max level though

Leveling seems dead af, started playing again recently and my first queue (as tank/heal + dps) went so long I outleveled the dungeons and it cancelled the queue. Not sure it’s really worth it to get back into til MoP.

That’s what happens as we go farther into the expansions. Casuals, the largest part of the player base level up a couple to 60 in vanilla. They level those two to 70 and a couple more. They level those 4 to 80 and a couple more, one’s a dk so it starts a 55. Add in a boost or two. We’re now in Cata and even the slow casuals have a half dozen characters at 80. They barely have time to level those 6 to 85 so they’re not leveling any more from level one. You’re just not going to get dungeons less than level 70 maybe even level 80. There’s not enough players leveling through vanilla and BC and those that are at those levels are moving at different speeds.

Everything is happening after level 80. But there’s still enough happening at 80 that you can still get the normal dungeons and move through heroics and infernos.

What server are you playing on? Remember that Mankrik / Faerlina are mostly Horde so you’re not gonna see many souls around. If you’re playing alliance, Pagle / Bene are the way.

Edit: I just remembered that dungeons are cross servers so it’s weird. Maybe it’s the time when you play not being very active?
