That wasn’t my experience. I played white mage and when someone died I just popped my mana regen abilitiy, my instant cast ability, then battle rezzed. We went on to kill bosses after more than one death on many occasions. I love love love that all healers got battle rezzes though.
Like I said, depends on what you’re doing and who dies. I pretty much live in savage now so it’s definitely something to watch for
course my experience is limited this expac cause i just dont have the time for raids, I tank mostly the world bosses which yeah i get those arent that hard mechanics wise and alot of their hp pools are fairly low but the groups for them get insanely stupid sometimes. I more often than not find issues with people not caring about mechanics or paying attention than i do with low dps problems.
Oh good, more reasons not to try FF14.
I get FF14 want to be a community game like Classic WoW, but how you guys are suppose to know how good your really doing or how you’re improving if you can’t have DPS meter addons? I get it, you move out of a big glowing circle on the ground and win, but what’s my DPS? i need to know how good i’m doing in numbers.
It’s not harassment. That’s just like calling someone out for not doing the objective or didn’t kill at all is harassment. If were talking about the attitude/delivery people have for calling you out, then yea, if they were being nasty, calling you names and etc, that would be considered harassment. But simply calling you out isn’t harassment.
Xethorsiph has made a great example, i recommend you take a look.
But you can have meters in FFXIV, just don’t beat people over the head and flex your e-peen all the time and you’ll literally never have a problem
This kind of advice from well meaning players has been super useful to me leveling in the past. There’s a lot of things you just pick up with time that aren’t apparent at first.
I never show my DPS meter reports to other people unless they ask.
Then you’ll be totally fine with meters in FFXiV. This became an issue now in the game because a streamer publicly beat down another player with the meters forcing a reaction.
Yea, that’s doesn’t sound like the addon’s fault, more like the streamer’s.
Yeah, it was definitely because of what he was doing not what he was using.
People use meters all the time in FF as you want to know where you’re at because the dps checks are tighter than a Republican senators bunghole when asked if they think its okay for a president to ask a foreign country to investigate a political rival.
Short answer: No.
Long answer: If you are performing sub-optimally, having that pointed out to you is the best way to find out you need to improve, if people keep hanging on poor DPS and don’t care for context, you have the ignore button for a reason.
“Harassment”, ha.
It really depends on how it’s done.
I think people are getting hung up on that point.
if I (the tank) outdps someone and the person is being toxic or acts like they are good I will call them out or kick if i’m the lead
It’s usually the people with egos that are the worst players in the raid
I think you should be able to play your character to the best of its ability and also be able to do the mechanics.
Sadly, many of these elitist, don’t seem to know how to do the mechanics of a fight but think they can just have high DPS and that solves the problem.
Talking to you, Mages.
Gear is really boring if you can’t measure your DPS.
No. It’s not, if done correctly.
You can tell someone they need to improve, or even remove someone from a group without being a jerk about it.
Love it when I see twink rogues in sfk busting out their dps meters
Well yea, guilds doing hard content have to check if players can actually perform as part of a raid team, I think its mostly to keep pugs groups from sh-tting on the other pugs in that run.
last night I was in a NM pug and we wiped to Il’gynoth. after the wipe RL called out a few dps who were low and while they were low we wiped because i died being greedy and the remaining dps weren’t able to kill the organ/recover from bloods and finish the bosss.
i told the RL if he removed them for low DPS when the wipe was 100% my fault, he’d lose me too. i was doing most of the groups damage so had bargaining power. we pull it again, wipe but it’s a lot cleaner, only now the damage issue is more apparent.
did what i could do help them but they were holding up a dozen other people at that point. I wasn’t gonna let them get kicked for my mess up on the first pull but beyond that, can’t do much.
I’d rather have the 2nd one to be honest, it’s hillarious and spiteful and then you can report it and get them the lovely chance to get muted a couple days if you want, while the first one is condescendingly passive aggressive like the dps is being treated as special.
If i have to give advice for players on classes i don’t know, i literally just say,
- Go to icyveins if you’re new, for a good class 101 on your class on rotation, priority, general stat weights and enchants.
- Get Pawn Stat weights / Maybe Azerite Power traits.
- Sim your gear to generate your stat weights. ( I use https ://www.raidbots.com/simbot/stats cause it’s free, but AskMrRobot has a pretty convenient Best in Bags Setup and pretty neat autospec gear switcher)
- If you want a quick in game rotation helper, i like MaxDPS whenever im on a alt. it makes learning the rotation and getting feedback like 10x easier and faster when you have 20 alts you haven’t played in years that blizz revamps.
