You are either trolling or just trying to start something. My comment simply attempts to answer the OP’s question.

Classic is the most hyped up game to come out in the last 10 years. Finished that sentence for you. With things like twitch and other platforms and everyone playing it. People that never played it before will see what the hype is about. A friend at work who is a gamer has never played WoW in his entire life was asking me about it because he keeps hearing so much hype and that everyone is going to play it.

The word of mouth in today’s time is huge and when Classic comes out it will be the #1 streamed game on Twitch. The hype is real.

Now we just need Ninja to play it on Mixer and Pewdiepie to play it on youtube.

I wonder if he is using the same wind we are using.

This is patently False.

While people are hyped, the word of mouth in 04 made Vanilla wow the top played game at the time. This was before YouTube. Only to later have commercials for an MMO.

Im gonna pass on wanting those communities.

Being the eternal optimist, my sincere hope is that Blizzard so badly underestimates the demand for classic, that they have to “layer” the retail servers to steal resources for classic

“All your servers are belong to us”

And some players didn’t want so much change just more content. I know from experience playing the first 4 wow expansions as a druid, when druid got reworked and specs became easily changeable it was amazing and each spec had its own “life”, but then eventually got frustrated with the 100’s of abilities and items at my disposal/choosing. Having to carry 6+ trinkets around with me for each spec and remember which I need for which boss fight and all these abilities that buff other abilities/renew time on dots/hots, it seemed to me that the game, the hardcore aspect of it atleast had just changed too much. I enjoyed way more being able to see the skills of a player by how they use a few spells/abilities with the right timing rather then how the game became a competition of who can click the red buttons on their addons faster.

Nope, simply pointing out how ridiculous your comment is. 5 people coming back for everyone on this forum is at most 75,000 people. But you expect millions for some reason and all of a sudden it’s going to be bigger than everyone thinks. I could say the same about you that you’re trolling saying because of 5 people it’s going to be massive.

It’s funny how y’all immediately come on to defend how yuge it’s gonna be when someone says it’s not.

So, by your logic, everyone playing WoW Classic posts on these forums? You realize how ignorant you sound right? The vocal MINORITY are forum posters, and by minority, I really mean minority. Go troll somewhere else. I’m done with you.

Yawn. Look in the mirror.

It’s not 5 people coming back though. That is where your sarcastic comment with no logic or statistics is flawed. These forums also make up a very tiny % of the player base. Lets be serious.

Classic is being talked about everywhere, It’s a big deal. To deny that is denying facts. It’s like you didn’t watch 150k people tune into a Beta dueling tournament. Not even max level by the way lol. That tournament by the way was the best WoW entertainment we gotten in many years.

The hype is massive and there are more means to grow the hype now than ever with streamers that have already committed to streaming the content. People will be watching and playing Classic.

People will be searching up guides on Youtube. Classic is being hyped in magazines and other means on the net.

Classic is going to be Yuuuuge based on trends, hype and what we seen. I don’t have to convince you but please make a reasonable counter argument instead of saying sarcastically it’s going to be huge cause of 5 people when clearly it’s a big deal.

posting here to laugh after a month

Why? I would love Ninja to stream some WoW especially Pewdiepie because he is hilarious. The more the better.

Also Ninja was playing Classic Beta, he jokingly messaged Soda asking him how do I build in this game.

Classic has gotten a lot of attention.

Okay I will,

Classic is a niche side project that has no marketing whatsoever because it’s just that. A side project. A museum piece. Sure, you will see an influx of players at the beginning, heck that’s why we’ve got layering. When all is said and done you will probably see an active, contributing community of like, a few hundred thousand as a liberal estimate. Not millions. And that’s AWESOME! That’s more than enough to have a massive WoW community. It’s not going to be bigger than people think. It’s moreso that you’re hyping yourself about it and taking the thousands or so people that post around the forums on Reddit/here/wherever and extrapolating that irrationally.

So what if 150k people tuned into streamers streaming a tournament? At least half of those people will follow their favorite streamer everywhere regardless what they’re playing. That’s what kids do these days. Those same people are most likely watching their favorite streamer play garbage Fortnite right now, or whatever game.

I get it, you’re hyped, everyone here is hyped, everyone on Reddit/classicwow subreddit is hyped, streamers played it and you saw inflated numbers due to the streamer fans themselves. Heck, I’m hyped too and it’s going to be awesome. But you asked me to to be serious, so I am.

Overall those communities arent going to be interested in the game any longer than the person playing them is. They will overall not bring much to the game outside of some additional people in the short run and some low number of conversions that will maybe play the game. Overall when a person outside the community decides to invade the new hot thing, how long has that hot thing lasted at the top?

For example Apex was going toe to toe with Fortnite for a few months in terms of popularity. Yet Asmon gets more viewers ON HIS OWN than the entire section has at this moment (see 20k at time of this post).

Transient communities no matter how entertaining with no attachment to the game are not people who are actually going to make the game better. They are the Literal Tourists that people are fretting about and will be gone just as quickly.
