Is Blizzard going to start selling physical authentators again for people who don't have Smart Phones?

if it affects people then its an issue. same as sellers never bugged me but did you. it wasnt hard at all to go thru the group finder and find a group. and ya i got a phone. its the point it dont affect many is lame. just as sellers never bugged me.

Unless you’re Amish or living like it’s 1995, you do, and I would argue these people aren’t living modern lives.

You don’t because I don’t have one. I am pretty tech savy too I am always upgrading my PC with new stuff. I do not buy pre built. I don’t go anywhere except for work. I do not have RL friends so I do not need a smart phone. I spend most of my time gaming when not working.

I mean… I have a smartphone… but let’s not get hyperbolic. 99% of my life in no way requires a smartphone, and that final 1% is arguable as to whether its really more than just convenience. I’d also say that my smartphone has, on the whole, had a negative impact on my life… If smartphones went away tomorrow, we’d be perfectly fine…

Dude… chill with the hyperbole… What next? Are they also cavemen because they didn’t pick up their latest iphone X1815 (or w/e we’re up to now).

? They’re asking for something that was previously functioning… they’re not asking for something that has literally never existed…

For what? What does a smartphone do that is 100% required in todays modern age.

I don’t see how me wanting Blizzard to sell physical authenators again is bringing you down? If they did you wouldn’t have to buy one you could use your phone.

You act like having more options is a bad thing.

if they went out and had RL friends why would they need a mobile phone? People went out and had friends for 100s of years and didn’t need a mobile phone.

Let’s be real we only have smart phones to watch videos and play bejeweled on the toilet.
Everything else can be done on a laptop.

nice response. it was more lame to say i cant find a group cause sellers. it was quite easy worthless change. sellers aint going nowhere cause the players want them. you might tell the players to quit buying so they aint here. get out of here with your nonsense. and ya i got one you need to realize theres tons of people struggling hard right now and playing wow is cheaper than buying a phone for entertertainment.

It’s access to the collective knowledge of mankind in your pocket, and instantaneous access to global communication. For the cost of lunch.

I can step off a plane in a city I’ve never been to and navigate as good or better than someone who’s lived there their entire lives.

I can hail a taxi in a dive bar off the beaten path because I don’t feel safe driving home.

I can have a face to face talk with one of my vendors in New Delhi from anywhere in the world.

You don’t need a phone. You don’t need a car. You don’t need pasteurized milk. Like, who decides where the cutoff is for forcing society to accommodate people who won’t move forward?

If I chose not to have a car, I wouldn’t then ask the local council to build a walking path to accommodate me.

If I chose to grow my own food, I wouldn’t ask the FDA to come round and inspect it for me.

So why would someone who chooses not to have a smart device ask to be accommodated like this?

physical authticators are old tech. Most 2 step is digital now.

There are multiple reasons a player might not want/have a cell/smart phone.

I, myself, finally bought a phone (I don’t use it for 2FA) last month.

Why did I never buy a phone?

Well, WTF would I use it for? There are some of us who don’t really ‘get out much’ and don’t have anybody we’d really call on it, and spend most of our time at home while we’re not working. Some of us WFH, too. If you’re a WFH, then you don’t need a phone, like, at all.

The Keyfob worked, and worked beautiful. It was $5 and it lasts 10+ years, or at least my first one did. Just $5. Not $15, not $30, not “Pay us $30/mo” or anything like that. Just $5.

The only reason I got a phone, is because I was promoted to Manager where I work and Managers need texts to keep in communication with each other. If it wasn’t for that promotion, I wouldn’t have gotten the phone, because… again, who the frick would I call with it?

My bank offers 2FA and guess what its them sending a link to my email to click. Yet Blizzard doesn’t do this.

They’re a requirement in many work environments, which is why those companies provide the phones. They also are the medium for distance-related services like telehealth. I have a relative who is disabled and uses their phone for stuff like that.

Now, you can definitely make an argument or situation where it isn’t needed, but I think that loses the point. I’m not saying OP should need a smartphone for this, because it would be nice to just have the physical authenticator too, but I don’t think we’d just be ok if they disappeared tomorrow. The world’s been built too much around this expectation that it’s needlessly difficult for a lot of us to get by without them now.

They are also not worth the money to manufacture. That’s why no one really does them any more.

So, Blizzard isn’t going to make them again.

So OP has two choices:

Generic M+ titles

or Get the smart phone and app.

You all know you don’t need a “smart” phone to also have that extra layer of protection. You know you can set up SMS Alerts on any phone, new or old or prehistoric.
