No, they’re not. If you want to use their stuff you need a smart phone. If they were going to do that they would have mentioned it in all the news releases.
if they make cute ones id buy it
but i usually lost my authenicators cuz i moved 247 as a kid mao
Oh they work, if you have one. I got mine back in Burning Crusade and was using it until a couple months ago.
It still works even now. I just wanted to switch because I’m afraid the battery might die, one of these years.
How does this stop anyone from doing M+? You don’t require an authenticator to sign up to a group, heck, from what I’ve read, you don’t need one to create an M+ group, just to edit two of the fields manually.
I still have one that I don’t use anymore, somewhere around here
I have one for Final Fantasy 14 because it came with the collectors edition. Never got a Blizzard one because it never came with anything. Wasn’t going to go out of my way to buy it.
I have a physical authenticator and it doesn’t work for this, i.e. I can’t put in custom text either.
Although I would be happy if they started selling these again because mine is probably around 10 years old and will end up stopping to work one day.
they were more than that 10 years ago - you would probably be looking at at least $25- $30.
I probably have a bunch lying around, they used to stick them in the Blizzcon goodie bags that you got for attending.
Dont you guys have phones?
this. 100% Im sorry these people feel excluded but its their own choice to not protect their account. Right from the get go the authenticators have been encouraged with multiple ingame incentives.
Waiting for the ‘I run Windows XP’ reply…
People are willing to have an authenticator - a physical one. What they aren’t too willing to do it create themselves a $40 extra monthly expense for a phone.
you dont need a smartphone, you need a device that connects to one of the app stores and wifi. My mum authenticates off a WIFI only tablet. Its not unreasonable to assume the vast majority of players have such a device somewhere in their house.
see my previous reply.
they require you to input a phone number - how would that work
i dunno i use a phone, works for her though.
That’s because they were $7
If this works, that’s pretty huge. Although I wonder why it has to be mobile or physical and that’s it.
EDIT: But if it also works off of a tablet, yeah I can’t imagine not having even a very cheap one somewhere.
You really… don’t though.
To use an ancient phrase, the juice is not worth the squeeze. Let all 6 people who somehow play MMO’s and don’t happen to have any other smart devices in their possession languish until they catch up to 2007 or quit.
