Is Blizzard going to start selling physical authentators again for people who don't have Smart Phones?

This… Smartphones enable the convenience of doing everything you can already do on your computer directly to your hand. That’s it. They’re in no way required to function.

Like my laptop then?

Like my laptop then?

So you mean I plan my method home prior to going out then?

Like my laptop then?

The first two are correct depending upon your situation. I didn’t have a car for all of years in university. The third though… sure if you like tuberculosis?

Again, how does the OP asking for a physical authenticator negatively impact you?

That’s funny… cause many cities have exactly that. In fact the more modern ones ENCOURAGE you to walk/bike.

Ok, you just suck at analogies.

Because they decided to make a relatively inane change within the group finder that previously functioned. That’s why.

i think they are asking for the wrong things. They want their old style physical authenticator. they should be asking to have the app ported run on a pc. It is safe to assume the VAST VAAAAAAAAAAAST majority of players have a computer right?

waiting for the “what about those of us that play on a slab on concrete?”

Yeah, I don’t get why we can’t just install the app on our computer, that way, only our computer is able to generate that code to log in, and if someone steals the desktop tower out of my house, I got WAY bigger problems to deal with.

EDIT: For that matter, is there anything blocking the ability to install an Andriod emulator on a Windows PC to run the android app?

That’s a farcry from the statement that they are required for modern day life.

No, that is the point. That’s why I’m responding to the poster insisting that they’re completely required for basic modern day life.

They’re a convenience. They’re not required. At all.

yea i doubt running M+ will be on my mind in that case.

Because then there’s no “M” in “MFA”. Going to a separate device is the important part, in case your computer is compromised.

Players who don’t own a “smart phone” are a very miniscule minority.

Funny thing Blizzards direct competition still offers this

No, you don’t need a smart phone for “literally” day-to-day life. Pew estimates 15% of the population does not have a smart phone.

And that’s not what Luddism is. Luddism is active, conscious opposition to tech and automation. Simply not having specific types of it doesn’t qualify.

People are asking for an alternative form of authentication, including a form that previously existed for WoW. You’re claiming that’s akin to asking for moving sidewalks to replace cars. One of those things is reasonable request, and other is an absurd attack.

I could always install it on one of the other computers in my house.

This is as ugly as it is ignorant.

I’m surprised they do have RL friends acting like that…

I live out in the boonies, with almost nobody my age that shares similar interests. It’s not like I choose to not have any friends, lol. There’s just none that live around here that I’d wanna be friends with.

I’m not into hunting, and drugs, and ATVs and junk like most guys around here.

you still need a cell phone number

You don’t need cell service to use the authenticator app. Just a WiFi connection.

See, what I don’t get is… banks… I mean BANKS… you know, the institution you store your money, like, thousands of real-life dollars, thinks that email 2FA is good enough for them… but yet Blizz doesn’t?

Somehow, an MMORPG needs higher security than, you know, a bank?

Doesn’t everyone browse the forums on their phones? I’ve literally never checked a gaming forum on my pic or laptop ever.

Or it’s smaller than you think.

I’m sure there are HUNDREDS of you playing this game without a functional modern phone.

you need a phone number and you can’t get that without a plan
