Is AV Zerg really the version blizzard is releasing!?

Npcs do not force more engagement. I do not understand where you guys are getting this idea from. Players force more engagement. If people don’t want to defend, they won’t defend. What stopped people from defending was reinforcements. When you defend with reinforcements, you are way more likely to slowly lose and get behind on towers taken.

Well, thats the issues isnt it? This wasn’t required for old AV. Not only that, this only effects the game Im currently in, not the other 3 AVs that are going on at once. So while I stop the zerg in my game, the zergs in the 3 other AVs are not stopped.

Guess what happens then? The others who arent in my game end up getting more honor/hour and I fall behind.

Whereas if the guards were in all of our games, we’d be on an even foot.

Did you even play classic?

Oh it certainly does, a properly timed fear bomb will destroy a zerg.

Just cap snowfall and it will stop the Zerg it will be like old times then

100% NPCs stopped zergs. The reason is that it becomes much easier to defend then to attack. A handful of players backed by a high number of NPCs can wipe multitudes higher than them ,esepcially when warmasters are still up.

Whereas if those NPCs were removed, the defenders would get rolled.

NPCs enable players to force more engagements, because they can do so even at a numbers disadvantage. Not only because the NPCs attack, but because it’s harder to just ride through more of them without getting dismounted.

Yes, i played 1.11 in AV during vanilla for a long time during vanilla. If you don’t like a zerg stop it.

And fall behind what? Overall anyone who gets ahead will just end up in the same zerg breaking team and they’ll fall behind.

There’s more than one AV going on at once. So I can break the zerg in my game, but for those other AVs where I’m not in, the zerg continues. So I reduce my honor/hour and everyone else in my game only, not the entire horde side on my server.

Since Rank points are relative, I actually decrease the amount of rank points i’d be getting by trying to win, rather than making the game go by fast. That’s essentially what’s wrong with 1.12 AV and CRBGs. It promotes social loafing and lower quality fast games rather than actually winning and being competant.

And why do you think this is all about you?

The rushers in others games will also have people breaking zergs.

Didnt you just say “Well if you dont want a zerg, YOU just break it!”

Lol, I am responding to YOU. And no, the rushers in the other games would not have people breaking zergs because the meta in 1.12 AV is to zerg. You know what “meta” means? It means the predominant strategy. If people were breaking zergs all over the place, it wouldnt be called the meta would it?

How many npcs in your head do you think 1.5 had? You know most of the npcs that were removed are almost completely ignored by a zerg, right? The npcs that were in the line of a zerg did almost nothing to ‘help’ stop a zerg

This is not all about you personally controlling the behavior of thousands of other players.

You are not the only one who doesn’t want to zerg. There are other horde players and alliance players who also don’t want to. Overall games will not all be zergs except for ones you personally grace with your glorious non zerging presence.

Did you even play old AV? Here’s how it works. The boss room had many warmasters in it.

NPCs were also a lot stronger. Every graveyard had an elite if you upgraded enough. Any horde running past you will take the easy kill, since they’d be supported by 2 guards or so. Guards that were decently strong anyways.

You cant solo towers either, since every tower had a commander, so you at least needed a small grp for every tower. I distinctly remember there being commanders patting around on the main line too (one of them being an abomination iirc).

You try rushing into drak’s room with all warmasters up. Alot of the raid would have died just trying to run past all the guards but to actually try to tank all warmasters and DPS them down will result in a wipe, especially when there are only a handful of defenders.

I refer you back to my meta comment. It wouldnt be called the meta if it wasnt the default strategy. We even saw it in the past too, where people started zerging in 1.12 AV. With people even more min-maxing than before, why would you even think they wouldnt zerg?

Hell, it even happens on retail right now.

Stopping you right there. Whatever memory you had of old av, and how it was played needs to be ignored. Full stop. Unless you’re just talking about how awesome your experiences were.

Servers have recreated old av. These npcs do not help in any meaningful way to stop a zerg. Christ there’s a video out there displaying just that. People queuing 1.5 av for 3 hours straight and completing them in under 10 mins most times.

And before you go saying ‘those servers aren’t accurate’, you’re right, they intentionally made them harder.

And it wasn’t the meta until reinforcements.

Do you truly not understand how reinforcements forced zerg or die? Where as before it really player choice?

Zerg happens in retail right now because of reinforcements…

Of course they helped. That’s why AV was played the way it was until 1.12. All it takes is a couple defenders to wipe groups because the NPCs helped.

I’m not sure what these videos showed, but that wouldnt be a common occurence in classic, if they went with an older rendition of AV.

Also, zergs happened in 1.12 AV too. It’s just that reinforcements was the nail in the final coffin, but it was already happening before

There’s a huge difference between zergs could happen and zergs had to happen.

Zergs can happen in earlier version of AV as well.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong and wrrrrong.

Quick question, what raid do you think is at fault for making players min/max with spreadsheets? They use to not do this, but then they started doing this, so it’s one of the raids faults right?

Nope. You maybe think that the players understood better after playing the game for oh idk a couple years, on how to beat av efficiently?

Well here’s some examples of your npcs doing their work. Oh and just in case you think the first vid is a fluke go ahead and watch the back to back flukes in the second video for 3 hours straight.

Edit: here’s another almost 2 hour video of these things you think ‘won’t happen as much in classic’ LOL

The BG patch is not released yet and you are complaining about it already. That makes perfect sense.
