Jesus the hoops people will jump through to fit the narrative they want to make themselves feel good about the points they are making on here are hilarious
I’m just an old fart whos been playing this game since the original beta who would rather see everyone happy with paths to max ilvl gear.
Locking player power behind difficulties makes no sense for the purely PvE aspects of the game (other than hurting some players epee…egos), and is a determent to any kind of fair/balanced PvP (which can’t really exist without better class balance that has eluded Blizzard since this games inception.).
Having progression is fine but the game needs paths for every type of player and equitable reward structures for all. In the end the Mythic + pusher, Mythic raider, Elite PvPer and casual WQ/Random BG player all pay the same fee to play warcraft and deserve the same gear.
The difference between the elites and casuals shouldn’t be the power level of gear, just a difference in the time it takes to attain the most powerful gear.
Just play at whatever ilvl you like. I end up being between heroic-mythic raid ilvl but I’m a bit lower this expansion. But hey that’s fine for what I enjoy.
It’s people who group together who are taking the easy road.
It’s the soloists who have the real challenge.
And the groupers need to either follow a leader or be the leader. And they also have to spend more time away from real life–following a schedule created by another.
I think it’s good. It’s good to have various “softcaps” at different milestones. I only recently broke the 200 marker and it feels satisfying. Granted, I haven’t face the horrors of the greatvaults rng dark side yet.
Since cov gear brings you to m7 entry gear, it makes sense that 200 would be a reasonable place since at 7s you start dealing with 3 affixes and in normal raid are also a bit more punishing.
200 gear is not “good” when you run into a 226 in the open world with WM on. It’s not even “same ballpark”
It you’re not 210 its automatic gameover for maybe 20% of the fights you take, unless you play lights out to barely eek out a win. That’s my only issue with gearing is the relative power disparity from top to bottom is just crazy high and with this kind of burst meta we have it becomes comical
200 is a solid number for casuals to aim for. It’s a hair above max upgrade rank for honor and covenant gear, and with good enough skill can get you through high level keys and heroic CN without trouble
210 is a reasonable mid-core level, for those who want to put their skill to the test but can’t/don’t want to tie themselves to a dedicated schedule
220 is your hardcore mythic raiders. Anyone demanding you be here before they stop calling you a casual scrub is full of themselves
I think a lot of people wish LFR/LFG had Heroic and Mythic, with the same rewards and gameplay, so they don’t have to commit to some group schedule, that ties them down or a bunch of “elitezz” who dictate. They want to play when they want to play or can play. And when they are stuck at ilvl 202, they want better armor and think entitled group players should stop dictating how we play. The word “casual” is BS it’s “casual” to spend 12 hours a day in a game being nice little minion raiders.
The question of “Is 200 ilvl good?” offends me to my very core!
Anything not at the absolute peak of ilvl is complete trash and should be regarded as such!
Joking, 200 is honestly fine for most things at this point.
My raid team about 1/4 of our members are still in the 200-205 area cause all they do is raid, no m+ or pvp.
Most of the game is playable with the gear I’m wearing right now. Basically, everything outside of Mythic+ and high level Raiding you can play with iLevel 197 no problem at all. And for Mythic+ and Raiding you get the gear you need while playing that content. Rate Battlegrounds is basically the same story just a different system.
The only debatable exception would be Twisted Corridors for some classes but if you have a hard-on for getting the mount by completely Layer 8 you can always bring in more people with you; then your 197 gear is fine.
What you’re advocating basically ruins the game for players running high level content because it trivializes their rewards. It’s been done in past expansions (Warlords of Draenor, if I remember correctly) and it’s lame.
Nope. No they don’t. This will not make the game better; it’ll make it worse.
The casual players who want the best gear need to either become less casual or just accept they aren’t going to get the higher level rewards that come with completing the more challenging content.
