There’s a strawpoll floating around somewhere that shows it isn’t a minority. The options were the four covenants and a fifth option of “whatever is best.”
Venthyr/Ardenweald had a couple thousand votes, Maldruxxus had something like 1500, Kyrian had something like 800.
You know how much “whatever is best” had? Almost 12,000. It dwarfed the others completely.
The system should be cosmetic only. You should be able to pick what you enjoy, not what you “have to” but most players feel like they have to make a specific choice.
The covenants are akin to factions. Swapping back and forth should be consequential. Replace “Covenant” with “Alliance” or “Horde” and ask yourself if it makes as much sense.
It literally doesn’t though lol? Again it’s just you lack the self control to rp that you don’t have the choice. It’s just like anti flyers except even less justified.
Flaws that have been pointed out, very true, however, it’s from like 5% of wow’s population, if that. How does that 5% speak for the majority of the player-base?
Edit: Of course that % could be higher, but frankly, I’ve only been hearing a small majority complain on the forums. These forums make up how much of our playerbase?
But it does. There is thousands of choices we have to make each day. Some of them are extremely impactful others are not. The ones which have the most impact are the ones we have to think about the most and this is because getting out of those choices come with a penalty. You can just make believe there is a choice but the very existence of it means the possibility to change your mind. So that choice loses value, you don’t have to think as hard on it. Because there is no consequence to choice.
We don’t need to. It will crash spontaneously, if it’s going to happen.
One of the devs’ problems is they think most people don’t actually have opinions on things, like, “Am I having fun?” They think people can easily be led just by telling them they’re having fun and it’s the right kind of fun.
The fact is that most players are not looking deeper than the hype right now. So they may not be prepared when the time comes to make that big decision.
Meanwhile, a fair number of players are saying things like, “That sounds awful. I’d quit over that.” That’s always a bad sign.
Once a wave of unsubbing happens, those people won’t be right back. They’re gone for years, if they ever come back.
Dude, don’t try to “high ground” me. I checked your armory, you play BGs. You can continue to do battlegrounds on that character all you like. If you have fun doing casual PvP, you can continue to have fun doing casual PvP. Covenants are not changing that for you.
I’m going to tell you this straight up - the PvP meta and the PvE meta are two separate things. They meander around and the best classes to get a gladiator title can very often be different from the classes best at getting a Cutting Edge title. The only difference is that now, there will be even less overlap. Rogues and Mages are somewhat spoiled in that they’ve often been meta for both, but for most other classes if you want to get gladiator titles and also CE, you want two different characters.
Blizzard is straight up acknowledging this reality by making Gladiator Mounts account wide going forward. They know at the top end people who play one character for PvP will play another for PvE.
Yeah ions trying to fix people needlessly declining “bad specs” from their pug normals, not realizing that you can’t fix people being silly and not understanding that normals / heroics can be cleared with all “bad specs” the difference between all the covs combined could be .00000000000000000001% and people would still take the “best” cov and decline the worst because icyveins said so.
It’s a freaking game dude. There aren’t thousands of choices that semi permanently determine your power there is exactly one and that’s at character creation.
You know I find it funny that Ion basically told us that if people really, really don’t like the system after it launches that they genuinely will just open it up freely, and that they’re working on a method for not destroying conduits, and people still manage to be overwhelmingly negative about it and say it’s the worst thing ever.
We have basically been told that two of the most major things people on here want can and potentially will be a reality, and people still find a way to complain.
At this point I don’t even care about what my own opinion on it is, I’m just baffled at how much people on here want to be negative about stuff, no matter what it is.
