Let me say this, I will ALWAYS choose Ion Hazzikostas over Preach. Preach doesn’t know jack **** about what anyone else wants except himself. Ion is having to balance the needs of millions of players, and while he’s failed in many regards, he’s also succeeded in a number as well.

If blizz just opens up covenants we will riot. We were promised meaningful choice for the first time in WoW and thats what we should get.

Yeah no crap the guy isn’t a top player, and he’s not even close to one. But saying “he doesn’t play the game” is disingenuous. This community is just too salty all the time man. 
Yeah at first we all thought - oh maybe he’s just meme’ing and going for dps parses as a healer. Which, hey - on reclears, if your guild is cool with it, then have at it!
But nope - he wasn’t really dpsing and his parses there were just as bad.
Hence the carry mentality.
I hope they follow through, and in the mean time, if it does backfire, then we have a safety net.

Hey if you want to do different types of content like raids , pvp or mythic plus then you better make a toon for each .
I feel like theres a fundamental misunderstanding of what min/maxing means here. You can never truly be min/maxed for EVERY situation out there ever no matter what you do. What most of the guides do is give you a solid baseline to work with to understand what a spec / class is good at, and you can tweak it from there. Ion isn’t going back on anything by trying to make covenant choices mean something, hes trying to get people to actually be creative with their builds. Unfortunately hes committing the sin of trying to convince people on this forum he isn’t gigasatan who they need to rail against no matter what.
They don’t need to go that far though. There’s a happy middle ground where changing covenants isn’t as easy as clicking a button like talents and also isn’t as hard as leveling up a new character from scratch.

When you’re Mythic raiding, and you’re doing THAT badly - actually “playing the game” is a reach compared to being carried.
Again - I don’t mean any offense to him, and I understand he’s an adult and probably can’t play as much as everyone else. But to say he plays the game the way the people being negatively impacted by this play the game is the real reach.
Venthyr is going to absolutely trainwreck every other covenant in population because you CANNOT pass up a free 35 yard teleport on a short CD for raiding and M+. The time saver on this skill is too big of a window that the rest are garbage.
Listening to it, it’s become blatantly clear that the devs learned all the wrong lessons from Classic.

Being carried isn’t playing the game? What even is this. It is this sort of toxic elitist mind set that is what destroys this game at it’s very core. Acting like someone putting in their best effort is a carry, acting like it’s bad to have people just a little below you is a terrible thing. What happened to the “It’s just a game, it should be fun”

I just wish preach had gone all in on Ion and pinned him to the mat. It was obvious with the way Ion was reacting that he’ll never get another interview, so why hold back?
