In-Game Toxicity Against 12-Month Sub Players

Also just an old and out-of-touch thing to say. Some of you are getting so old and washed up that you don’t even realize the average price for a new videogame is $70 now.

$150 is what I have to spend just to buy my kid two of the latest videogames for Christmass. Things are expensive.

LOL!

Jealousy. Its not just in the community. The reason why they can voice their true thoughts here is simply because its the net. Irl people probably think just as worse if not worse but they simply don’t say it out loud. You can’t read their true thoughts.

Because it wasn’t always there. Lots of players believe that you’re earning something without working for it in-game. Like they used to, back in the days. True nerds or fans of the game would feel like to showcase a mount or an achievement, you should’ve earned it in-game. Buying it from the store is antagonistic to that value.

All types of people there. Some of them can probably afford to simply buy the in-store mounts but they see this as a way of Bliz making easy money / think that its not the same as an actual in-game mount which is cooler for the effort that went into getting it. So they choose not to do so because they think less of it.

Personally, I wouldn’t care so much about it before but my opinions have changed a bit. Looking at what the DF M+ reward mount looks like and then comparing it to the store-sold mounts? I feel like a more P2W vibe from it atleast as far as the pixels compare.

DF Season 1 KSM mount

New In-Store game mount(s).

It’s about the behaviour in general, of being able to identify when to spend money, and when not spending money will lead to a better outcome in the medium term.

The point was not that successful people don’t buy wow subs, it was that rich people are just as likely not to spend money unwisely.

IE: if you think it’s poor jealous people making fun of you for buying a year of a product sight unseen, you’re funny  Far more likely is that it’s people who realise that you are responsible for the garbage in game mounts vs. the paywall mounts; you actively reduce the quality of the game buy engaging with this practice.

Ok, so now tell us what actually did inspire this thread, because I don’t think the image you’re portraying – being randomly targeted with hate-comments because of your mount(s) – is what happened.

I feel like it had to do with trade chat, where undoubtedly players have expressed their opinion that paying for a 12 month subscription is money badly spent. If OP jumped into every such conversation and demanded respect for having spent that money because she’s rich, that might be part of the problem.

Yep, I think that’s more or less exactly what happened. OP left themselves open for negative attention in whatever scenario they were in, and they got it.

I have an extra box of Kleenex if that will help.

That’s my opinion. Lol, what a loser, paying for your year of sub in advance instead of paying an extra $24 a year. If you’re gonna sub for a year anyway, why not get a couple free mounts too? I just wish it was $10/month to continue the “longer subscription, lower per month” trend, but oh well.

This would’ve been a valid argument 5-10 years ago. Not now, the precedent has already been set.

You’re afraid of setting a precedent that has already been set by the videogame industry. It’s too late.

It’s like being worried about how much modern music sucks. There’s no point to it, music changed and there’s no going back to the stuff you liked in the 90s and 00s.

If no-one bought the next store mount to come out, there wouldn’t be another one to follow it.

The practice continues to be profitable entirely on the strength of players tha engage with it.

Right, but it’s accepted now. There isn’t enough support from the community to un-do the practice because it’s just widely accepted. No one’s quitting in disgust over store mounts, people don’t care.

It’s an MMO with microtransactions just like every other MMO with microtransactions, it’s a new standard that you may not accept but most people are numb to it by now.

And the opportunity cost of continuing to try is zero. Thus, I will continue to laugh and point at people riding mounts from the store.

Gotta love how the system conditioned society

That’s what the entire F2P movement in gaming is about, conditioning people to buy microtransactions makes them more money than just selling you the game one time.

Did you right click/report without responding?

If no, you did it wrong…

If yes, why are we talking about it?

One person to blame for it. A hippocryte named Asmongold

Some kind of reverse psychology going on there.

Stop trolling. I use my shop mounts all the time and even the dumb butterfly transmog and never once have I received a whisper about it.

Maybe it happened once, but when you say “filled with whispers” it’s obvious trolling.

People spend money on what they want :person_shrugging:

My electric bill was less than $150 this month :man_dancing:

Could be any number of reasons, maybe they are dirt poor and are mad someone has $150 of disposable income. Or maybe they aren’t dirt poor, maybe they are a CEO for a Fortune 50 company and make $1m a month and just like to run their mouth and be in other peoples business :person_shrugging: Maybe they are drunk, or angry at something else and just lashing at whatever, you’ll never know.

I’ve never been in, near, or remotely at risk of encountering a natural disaster before (hurricane, flood, tornado, earthquake), therefore they must not happen
