More than just trade chat or LFG chat I’m so, so tired of pot-stirrers who don’t have any actual affiliation with any position or believe anything, they just want to ruffle feathers because they find it amusing. They’re everywhere to some degree but some places are definitely worse than others.
You poor dear.
Stay strong.
Well, but the issue with this is that it allows the portion of the community who does not… ah… exemplify the Blizzard ideal in social conversation to take over.
So I never recommend leaving chat. Just learn to not carry a pitchfork, let it run on in the background, and calmly report things as you see them. No upset. Just doing your part. No more, no less.
I’m with the OP.
WoW needs more involvement by the company.
yes, every channel you join, you do so voluntarily.
you have the tools already on hand to handle things when people are saying things you don’t like.
LOL
Tell you truth ,I rather have someone talking politics (which no really likes) than not to have anyone talk at all. You don’t know what it’s like til it’s gone.
This thread is another example of why Blizz should never listen to these forums.
The game is already a social mess…so when you start punishing people for communicating it will only reduce social interactions more.
I “pot stir” in LFG when I get bored just like a lot of the other people there. Your horrible idea would ensure the chat channels are empty. But I guess empty chat channels can’t offend you.
The WoW social environment is like a zoo with just one giant habitat and all animal types are in it.
Or like the old wild west.
I don’t think many would be bothered if channels were filled with good faith discussions, but that’s never what it is. It’s always bait designed to get someone riled up and hooked.
Another authoritarian post that wants everyone they don’t like silenced.
Like others said, there’s a report feature. If that’s not enough, it’s a you problem.
Give us some examples of how you “pot stir”, and how is that making the game better for everyone?
Maybe we could have an “unmoderated” channel for all of you folks, and you can leave LFG and the rest of the channels to those of us who want to play the game and have fun, and forget for a while about how crappy the world is these days.
I feel that. But, I also feel like people who get “offended” so easily are catered to so much now a days. “iM oFfeNdED”. Welp, build a bridge, walk across and get over it. If you’re considering leaving WoW because of trade chat, welp…
Try /leave trade
Or whichever channel is bothering you. Or, mute the player(s). And/or mute and report. IF Blizz agrees with you on the incorrect content, they will sanction. If they don’t agree, then, well… It’s allowed.
Works very well actually.
Also what some people consider toxic others do not. Blizz will sanction bullying, degradation of another, racism content… But someone just being rude, or toxic, no they won’t bother with that. Players can mute if it bothers them.
That’s why we have the ability to ignore others.
This isn’t a child’s game, quite a bit of stuff is allowed.
I’m not easily offended. I’m here not because there’s the occasional edgelord, but because it’s literally impossible to use trade chat or LFG because they’ve been taken over by edgelords and reporting doesn’t have any meaningful effect.
Pray tell, how do I buy or sell stuff if I /leave trade?
How do I buy or sell stuff if Trade chat is so full of edgelords and toxic garbage that WTB and WTS posts are scrolled off in a second?
99% political crap, mostly conspiracy theory lunacy
Yeah it’s not so much feeling offended as it is being tired. Just seeing it makes you feel exhausted in a “ugh the kids are banging trashcans at 3AM again” sort of way.
Your not? But, you made this post about it.
I wish I knew the realm. I’ve played on a lot…
I’m used to trade chat just being spam carries these days.
Idk wut to tell ya OP. I just can’t imagine quitting WoW because of trade chat.
Good luck.
It has no meaningful effect because Blizzard doesn’t care. As long as the chat doesn’t violate the ToS it’s good to go.
You have players like you threatening to leave because the lack of moderation.
But then you have people that solely stay for chat…so either way Blizz loses subs.
Fixed that for you
you use the auction house. I haven’t been in trade chat for years, because it’s full of trolls and I’m adult enough to simply “/leave trade” since I don’t like it. Yet, I’ve never had a problem selling things.
Trade chat is like a merchant on a corner yelling a sale in a coward busy street ,you may get drowned out but you may find a good buyer within it.
