Kinda weird, isnt’t it? The only thing holding me to WoW is the World Chat. I go play FF14, and I love everything about the game except for how lonely it can be.
So I keep coming back to WoW.
Yes, I know FF14 has Free Companies, but I much prefer the openness of world chat.
Kinda strange for keeping a sub for such a silly reason, isn’t it?
And kind of sad that it isn’t the game that is doing it.
Not at all. MMOs are social games by design, so of if are having a good time in chat then that’s great.
Games are supposed to be fun and make you happy. Sounds like talking in chat does that for you.

Is your trade chat any good? On frostmourne it’s all about kfc with insults thrown in.
Moon Guard trade chat isn’t much more intelligent than Frostmourne’s.
I turn off trade chat (/2). I’ve been doing it for years. On my server it was all 95% obscenity “just because I can get away with it since I’m anonymous” and politics. So around 2008 I turned off trade chat, and have had it off ever since.
It wasn’t always like that. In earlier years I learned a lot about playing WoW from discussions on trade chat. And there was a lot of actual trade – players wanting to sell or buy stuff.
I mean, the strange part is that anyone finds anything valuable about World chats.
In my experience most of the people who use that are the absolute dregs of humanity.
Trade is just completely awful 97% of the time.

I find server LFG World Chat to be a much better community. Occasionally there are silly debates, but not as much random craziness compared to trade.
Of course, you also have to manually join that channel so there are less random people talking in it.
I am glad the game let us opt out of channels. If I have to stay in the world chat, they better pay me to play.
