Seeing two idiots talk smack on trade was the best, with people egging them on and no right click report to be abused.

Yeah but back then it was pretty harmless. These days it can lead to doxxing, SWATing, or worse.

Why this not in Classic forum? This retail.
For LFG in Classic (and soon TBC Classic), the reason LFG turns into the trash channel is because it’s a channel almost everybody is in, even outside of cities.
They could probably improve things quite a bit by auto-joining all characters to a [World] channel and then actioning anything off-topic in LFG. People who don’t want the inane banter can /leave world, LFG can be used for LFG, everybody is happy.

This is general, and it applies to both Retail and Classic.
I’ve been asking for this for a while, and this would satisfy me for the most part. Because by leaving World chat I don’t cut myself off at the knees for finding groups I’m interested in.
But without moderation of LFG and Trade, people would still bring their crap to LFG and Trade, even if World chat existed.

If your solution is to leave chat that’s there for the purpose of finding a group because it’s so full of toxicity, then that’s a tacit admission that there’s a problem and reporting is insufficient to solve it.

Not so much. What do you think group finder is for then? I don’t see ppl using the chat channel for groups, haven’t in a long time.
Solution to leave chat is for the “woe is me” types who are offended by what total random strangers are typing to each other.
i legit miss the days where you’d get perma banned in MMO’s for cursing. The players were better and also better to each other. Though my miner had some really harsh words for those PKs.
