Implications of Lor'themar and Thalyssra

No she does not. She does not refer to them as “Canon fodder”. That is 100% YOUR wording. Your bias coloring the context that could just as easily be colored the other way. Instead of “Canon Fodder” they were looking for “Allies” and “unity” in the face of annihilation.

For very valid reasons. Even after the Nightborne’s indulgence of magic brought forth another Demon invasion, they STILL cling to it as their birthright.

The Nightborne are WRONG, they chose a lifestyle of hubris and decadence instead of personal responsibility and change. Tyrande did not reject them, the Nightborne rejected the higher path.

No she doesn’t use the words canon fodder. She does say that she looks to have them recruited so that less of her people have to engage in the fighting.

Finally, a little bit of honestly. This is an important first step for you.

Except they literally DID choose personal responsibility and change. Thalyssra got rid of the Nightwell, and chose to let it die by allowing the Kirin Tor to take the Eye of Aman’thul.

No they didn’t… Just like the Blood Elves, all they did was trade one fount of power for another. Nothing has changed, they are just as reliant on the Arcendor as they were on the Nightwell.

You do remember that the condition that Tyrande gave for the admission of the Shen’ dre lar Highborne was that they start teaching Night Elves arcane magic? Which is the lore explanation for Night Elf mages.

The Arcan’dor isn’t a font of power, it does nothing for the Shal’dorei other than give them a fruit that can cure them of their addiction to the Nightwell’s energies.

And I have criticized that extensively. Blizzard has done a lot of writing easy lore for gameplay convenience, even when it breaks the ethos of the entire race.

… It feeds on the Ley Lines, my guy…

Yeah, there is nothing saying they are addicted or reliant on eating more fruit.

No it doesn’t. The Night Elves from their creation have always had a natural bent for the arcane for a period far longer than their association with nature or druidic magic. There have even been Night Elf Warlocks, renegades from society, but still part of the lore. Tyrande finally realised that after having her people being the targets of the arcane from the Horde that it was time to start hitting them back with some of their own medicine.

Yes, it does feed on the Ley Lines, but the Nightborne do not draw any power from the Arcan’dor.

It just gives them fruit, which is capable of curing their addiction to the Nightwell’s energies.

Completely untrue. They rejected the Arcane 10,000 years ago, and have actively HUNTED DOWN or EXILED practioners of it. Just because renegades exist doesn’t change that the rejection of magic as the volatile and corruptive thing that it is, is part of the racial identity of the Kaldorei.

You know, you made such a big step forward. Now you are just taking steps back.

Fruit that is grown by drawing power from the Ley lines lol.

Idk what you think is happening here, but they are literally eating magical fruit to curb their addiction.

That is exactly what i think is happening here. They’re eating magical fruit that cures their addiction to the Nightwell’s energies.

Nothing has stated they’re in turn addicted to the fruit of the Arcan’dor. After they eat the fruit, that’s it. They’re done.

Have you read Wolfheart? Did you forget the Night Elf mages who had the Darnassus evacuation portals opened and sacrificed themselves to help evacuate as many as they could?

Things have changed.

They are still addicted to magic, they are just eating extremely potent magical fruit lol

Unfortunately.

Again, just because Blizzard has written lore to justify gameplay convenience doesn’t make it good lore. It goes against the Ethos of the entire race, full stop.

And this from the one who has the nerve to condemn headcanon from others.

It’s their story, they get to be the ones that decide what happens, even if it means retroactively changing the story.

Consistency my dear, is not one of your strong suits.

The Night Elves have never been a monolithic culture, even now.

Yeah, we’re explicitly told it cures their addiction. We’re certainly never told they need to eat more fruit. It “makes them whole”.

Valewalker Farodin says: Behold. The gift of the ancient magi.
First Arcanist Thalyssra says: This tree came at a high cost… You are sure it can sustain us?
Valewalker Farodin says: The arcan’dor will not merely sustain you. By the fruit of its bough, you will be made whole again.

In the pale moonlight, they formed an order that would seek to bring the arcane into balance - using nature itself as a vessel. Thus the arcan’dor were created.

My masters who belonged to this order have long since faded away. Yet their legacy remains.

Their gift will mend the spirit of the shal’dorei. Let them eat, and be made whole.

The ancient power inside this fruit brings the life essence and the arcane spirit of the shal’dorei into harmony, freeing them from their addiction to the Nightwell.

The Arcan’dor is objectively a combination of arcane and nature magic (via the Emerald Dream) that created balance in the Nightborne to cure their addiction.

It’s not headcanon. It is a defining ethos of the race and has been such since Vanilla WoW.

That is not the same as you saying “Tyrande wanted the Nightborne as canon fodder” which was just a blatant lie, when you have a history of selectively replying to posts and topics where all you do is trash night elves.

How is it a blatant lie when she flat says “Rally the Nightbourne so that we can reduce Kal’dorei casualties?”

There is never a word that says that indicates that she gives two coppers of what the Nightbourne themselves are going through. She’s still carrying that 10,000 plus year chip on her shoulder.

Wasnt the reasoning of taking Suramar less “lets save the nightborne” and more “we need to stop the Legion from using these nightborne”?
