If you just get something liked you’ll know they’re good ideas or ideas that people support
Well, you don’t know they’re good ideas, necessarily. Anyhoo, if you just get something disliked, you’ll have a gauge as to whether that idea is bad and/or not supported.
Because that’s how the dislike function works. Even if it doesn’t hide it, people will simply see a ton of negative points on it and move on without reading or responding.
If you want to dislike something, then use your words. Have a discussion. Kind of like how we are right now.
A better gauge than a dislike is an actual counter statement that is liked.
Which would be better feedback?
It’s been pointed out that is how the old dislike function worked. I am in no way suggesting, myself, that dislikes be capable of hiding or even removing posts and topics.
As well, people see topics and posts and merely ‘like’ them instead of adding to the conversation. To be consistent, people should then also be able to dislike something without having to explain themselves.
A better gauge are the comments, because there could be ideas in there that you’d like better or a different point of view you hadn’t thought of before.
If you just get something disliked, half of that wouldn’t exist because some people can be lazy.
People that are lazy aren’t going to post why they disagree or dislike something, either.
Actually, no. Because they want to comment on things they like to keep a topic going, while also responding to those who have differing opinions.
If they’re lazy they’ll just like the counter argument
People also comment on things they dislike, as you said.
Uh… yeah… like you suggest people ‘like’ arguments they agree with.
They do. Because they can’t just hit a dislike button. Thanks for proving that point.
It’s no worse than a place where you can up-vote only, they should have either kept both or removed both, keeping one and not the other is more about trying to create a false vibe that everything’s just fine lol
You said that players reply to things they like. Players also respond to things they don’t like. That was the point.
I am saying the same is true of posts users dislike. Only I suggest users also be able to hit a thumbs down as well.
I don’t care about dislikes. I care that the crowd who loves dislikes is using flagging as a substitute.
It’s kinda like cupcakes where taken away and they are using a whole wedding cake’s instead. After a while it’s un-sustainable and does a heap ton of damage to everyone involved.
I literally don’t care what the end decision is as long as it gets people to stop using flagging as a downvote.
I’d rather a dislike function than false reporting. I mean, this topic’s original post has been falsely hidden twice now.
Judging by the buried OP, looks like they don’t need to.
Go post on reddit and you can down vote all you want. It’s quite petty and degenerate behavior imo.
Typically down votes are tied to flagging/post removal so it’s really not a fair comparison.
Its cancel culture. If you can fox that, I’d be happy.
I hate that people just try to end things they don’t agree with these days.
That’s been suggested, and I appreciate your advice. However, I think I’ll stay here, for now.
Do you not realize, that in this very topic, this cancel culture you speak of is being quite obviously demonstrated? A dislike function would be better than having topics and posts falsely reported and actually canceled.
