Implement Downvoting

(Topic has been false flagged and hidden FIVE times.)

Pure and simple. Downvoting should be re-implemented into the forum, just as there is a ‘like’ function. While this can be abused by players using alts and can result in mass dislikes, the same can be said for the ‘like’ system, which is used here. So…

To be clear, I am not suggesting downvotes have the capability to hide or remove posts nor topics. This may actually help with false reporting, which occurs very frequently and has to this very topic. Reporting posts and topics has become the dislike function. Provide players an outlet to dislike posts and topics and false reporting may actually decrease in frequency.

My two cents.

there was blizzard removed it too many posts were getting downvoted to oblivion.

I don’t see that as a problem. Posts get liked to oblivion. If posts are disliked, so should it be shown.

If you want an echo chamber then this is a wonderful idea.

I can definitely say that if there was downvoting, I would downvote this suggestion.

Could you elaborate?

I wish you were able to.

I guess people dislike your post OP…

I guess so. I’d rather have seen it disliked many times than falsely reported. But such is this forum.

Can I downvote you?

Not currently, but let’s cross our fingers that you may in the future.

It’s not fair to have a like button and not a dislike button. They are equals

Downvoting is your main concern? Man where have you been? With the broken mess that are these forums now we already have mouth breathers flagging posts on their 49 alts, now let’s let them skew the narrative even more and downvote 49 times too…

Personally, I’d rather see more accountability here rather than add a dislike feature as a whole. Come on now, shill, paid poster, white knight etc. are proof enough that people dislike stuff.

An echo chamber is where people don’t tolerate dissenting oppinion and do everything they can to silence or drive out the person in question.

Downvoting comments would rapidly lead to people who may have legitimate points to make getting silenced.

For example, I posit that BFA isn’t horrible. It has very serious problems with it’s writing being all over the place and the RNG on various effects can be annoying, but I appreciate what they were doing with Azerite gear, Corruption, island expeditions and horrific visions even if they didn’t perfectly stick the landing.

Forgive me, but where did I state this is my main concern?

Forgive me for assuming that putting up a post asking for it does not make it your main concern. My Bob, if it meant nothing to you why post it at all?

/em downvotes you 50 times on 3 accounts.

Feel better now?

Downvotes should come back bc it lets everyone communicate displeasure. Now people just go nuclear and flag things even if it doesn’t deserve a flag. Too many flags and a post hides with an option to unhide, even more flags and the whole thread auto locks for days killing discussion, forcing people that want to discuss the topic to make other threads, thus spamming the forums.

I appreciate you explaining what an echo chamber is. However, a dislike function wouldn’t silence users, at least in my suggestion. It might also help to reduce false reporting and actually silencing people, as has been done to this topic.

There is currently an echo chamber, only on the side of likes. If you’re going to allow for that, you ought to also allow for the opposite equivalent.

This is only my opinion.

dislikes were removed because it wasn’t healthy for discussion. That’s more than good enough of a reason to keep it removed.

Seems to me a downvote was a lot more passive then the current flag system that gets innocent people in time outs over nothing and never again being able to post a link on that alt ever again.

Allow downvoting, but just keep it ONLY between those who downvoted and those who got the downvote. Everyone else does not need to know. They don’t need to join in the bandwagon. But if you do say something dumb that no one likes you at least personally know and that is what is important.

Wait, so expressing that you don’t like something is an echo chamber but up voting something that you agree with isn’t? The only thing that change is instead of being able to just down vote the item you do not agree with, you up vote everyone who just posts in opposition. All they did was protect the person who would have been down voted from having their feelings hurt.
