Imagine not having a Tinker Class

This.

That and adding tinker as a class will probably require the removal of the version we’ve had since vanilla: the engineering profession

I know. :frowning: It’s so sad they got rid of Enchanting when we got Death Knights too.

This. The only way I would even think about playing a tinker would be if they made them a type of arcane/titan tech hybrid. A regular tinker would be so boring

What’s the overlap there? Runeforging?

you cannot have a tinker class with a engineering profession or especially now a dumb melee survival hunter. they took every name of every ability that a tinker would or could have. the end.

now go and fight to give me my 5.4 ranged survival hunter back. please.

I don’t have to imagine it, we don’t have one.

I play a gnome rogue. It is not lame, it is fun. So there!

And my goblin is a shadow priest.

I think it would add a fun, new class that could lorewise be used by all races.

But I also look at the work it would take to, say, create mechasuites for every class and know it is unlikely Blizzard is going okay the resources for it. I mean, look at the cheap job they have done on the Dracthyr/Evokers.

We’ve been imagining it for 18 years now.

and there should be, a concept for gnomes and goblins (especially gnomes who haven’t had any luck with Gnomeran and Mechagon) and something that exists to Blingtron gift these cards that can only be read by engineers.

So it would be the only opportunity, with a BETTER EXPANSION (right Dragonflight?) with a unique class in which we have seen since Warcraft 3 and it is the tinker, not evoker for lizards.

Maybe they will add Tinkers one day. I have to wonder how popular they would be though.

We do need a class built around it though. A Tinker / Artificer would’ve fit a way better niche than this goofy two-spec Evoker.

Tinkers / Artificers are present in a number of factions in-game, and have named in-game characters. They would’ve made a great mail class, would’ve given us another gun class, and have tons of lore already in-game.

is what I already mentioned, the Tinker can have up to four specs, 2 RDPS between suvirval hunter type, and a caster, a tank, and a healer.

And not the embarrassing copy+paste crap shame of the Demon hunter between a healer and a caster, really seeing the invoker is too cringe.

Some people still bafflingly want to deny that it makes absolute sense to have Tinkers though. When even Warcraft 3 had gyrocopters, tanks, etc.

or mechas, Just like the DK, Monk and DH had different new features along with what we knew in Warcraft 3, that’s why the appearance will be different and much better than the previous Warcraft 3 classes.

Thing that his style would be more than just bringing tanks and helicopters, but also some more magic technology that would make a difference in seeing a class seen in a profession, apart from using between a technology with lasers, heals with drones and healing potions that he throws, and a tank that uses its own mecha like OW D.va or a robot on its back which it uses to defend itself.

It would help to see Tinker’s new design… IF STUPID BLIZZARD STOPS IGNORING US.

torb used to be my favorite overwatch hero and they ruined him. he was pretty much what a tinker would be in a shooter - but they broke that.

so i have no hope for a tinker class from blizzard. they obviously hate it and will ruin it asap if they do come up with one

At least it wouldn’t be worse than the evoker disaster, anyway… The tinker has to exist.

There was a literal tinker hero.

I too would love to see a tinkerer/artificer style class. It’s been in Warcraft in the past, and there is various versions of them all over the game. Plus it would finally give us another class that uses bows/guns. So weird that there’s still only one class that uses them since the ranged slot was removed back in The Day.

Main problem I would see is similar to a necromancer. Abilities you would expect to see on such a class can be found across other classes, especially hunter. It would run the risk of a lot of unpleasant overlap.

After Cataclysm, Blizzard stated that they wanted Goblins to return to Undermine at some point in the future. Stating plainly that Undermine survived the cataclysm, and that it wasn’t a matter of if, but when.

We also have to look at pedigree; Not only was Undermine a planned continent in Vanilla, but it even shows up on the globe of the opening cinematic for vanilla WoW.

An Undermine expansion would assuredly bring a Tinker class along with it, since the Tinker’s Union is a huge part of Undermine.

I can imagine it because so far, there have been few if any ways for them to organically weave tinkers into an expansion’s main theme and storyline and have them stay relevant the whole way through. Their best chance in the past was during BfA, which has since come and gone, and even if they were made playable there, it’d be pretty hard to have them stay relevant in the face of the Old God story elements in 8.2 and 8.3. MoP also ended with Old Gods, but monks had the benefit of being tied to a race that was given the spotlight the whole expansion.

Now at this point, tinkers are on my list of potential additions to this game that I was either supportive or neutral toward until the other people supporting it became a borderline cult, right up there with a certain two races that have been heavily requested to be playable on the Alliance. I say this as someone whose favorite races include gnomes, goblins, and draenei, races that would all fit tinkers like a glove.

Some of the ideas I’ve heard tinker supporters supposedly coming up with to justify them being shoehorned into an expansion have been risible, e.g. the factions needing them to bolster their assaults on Kul Tiras and Zandalar (the least outlandish one), to open the way to the Shadowlands for some nebulous reason, or to locate the Dragon Isles. Also, I’ve read that tinker supporters have derailed discussions on other new or potential classes before, which gives me even less reason to empathize with them.
