World of Warcraft is home to so many unique fantasy archetypes.
There’s entire zones, quests, mounts, and NPCs dedicated to every single class.
One of the things WoW does best as an RPG is letting you live out your class fantasy.
But, It just feels like Tinkers are missing from this roster, especially when we already have Zones, Races, quests, mounts, and NPCs dedicated to Tinkers! Just no Tinker class!
I’m glad Evokers are coming in so people who want their “OMG DRAGONS” fantasy can live that out, but I’m still waiting on Tinkers.
All my friends can play whatever Archetype they want.
Human Paladin, Orc Shaman, Blood Elf Fire Mage, Night Elf Druid.
But Goblins and Gnomes don’t get their iconic class? They’re just expected to play Rogue or something. How lame. give us a class that’s an iconic part of WoW. Give us Tinkers!

Just build on Engineering and make having it as a profession more worthwhile with a robust toolbox of gadgets.

I didn’t want Evokers, and I have not and will never want a Tinker class, in World of Warcraft.

I mean, with the Prof Overhaul that’s probably going to be the case, heck, some of the bombs and stuff from Wrath are great in Epic BG still since they let you break walls and such more easily too

As someone who’s had Engineering since I started playing WoW.
Engineering is always just going to be a “fun silly profession”
A Tinker class should be fully capable of Tanking, Healing, and DPSing. That’s far outside the bounds of a profession.
That’s room for it to be a class.

People round here have said this a few times, yet I can’t recall any instances where masses of players were clamoring for “I want to play a dragon.”
I just don’t see how this was a requested thing.

They’re too busy turning everything into apples and oranges.
It bothers the heck out of me.

You can be a healer/tank/dps and an Engineer using things from the Engineering profession.
The problem is that it is underutilized, not that we need a class built around the same concept.

I’d personally like a class that dual wields pistols or dual ranged of some type. I know we have hunters but maybe that could be a weapon idea for a Tinker? Have them be engineers who special in dual ranged weaponry but no pets. Kinda like the engineer from Wildstar but instead of a 2h ranged weapon it’d be 2 single handed weapons.
Just something I’ve been thinking alot about lately.

Yes but then you’d still distinctly be your class.
Class is the most important choice you make in WoW. It defines almost everything about your character.
I don’t want to be a Warrior who uses engineering.
I want to be a Tinker, an Adventurer who solves every problem with Technology and explosives.
Mechs, turrets, and missiles.
And I’d still take Engineering with it!
Be a Tinker who’s profession is engineering.
The Tinker hero from WC3 fought in a Mech. Just like we see Gazlowe and Mekkatorque do.
But I’d love to have more Ranged attack options.
It’s crazy to me that this game is almost 20 years old and we have a single ranged attack class? Everyone else is using magic.
So long as Tinkers have Turrets, missiles, and Mech suits, I’m happy.
Edit: even hunter uses plenty of magic. Animal aspects, magical arrows, mending with nature magic.

Haven’t you heard? We don’t need anymore tank/melee classes.
Tinker is literally the most boring uninspired idea ever… we already have diaper gnomes and you can be an engineer. Just play one or both of those, use goggle transmog and use a mech mount. Done… moving on…

Personally I imagine a Tinker Class should be:
Ranged DPS. Ranged Healer. Melee Tank: That way it has a role lineup that is unique from the other classes on the roster.
And It should use intellect for all 3 specs.
So that’s a Race that works for a Tinker Class.
And a Profession.
And a Mount.
Now what class should I pick if I want to be a Tinker?
Because none of the classes we have look like Tinkers to me.
If you really think a Race and a Profession is equal to a class, then I can’t help you.

Liianas will never stop obsessing over this concept. They have been at it for several years. The hope was that they would cease once Evokers were announced. Sadly, this was not the case. I suppose the obsession will never end and this is all we will see again for another two years.

They’d either have to add Tinkers, or go back through 18 Years of World of Warcraft and remove every single Questline, race, dungeon, mount, npc, and zone themed around Tinkers. That would make me shut up.
But then this game would just be a boring Fantasy game, not World of WarCraft anymore.

They just tried to do a profession revamp. Giving Engineering a hybrid tinker type theme would be perfect, but whatever.
It’s not the same company.
It isn’t anyway and hasn’t been for a long time now, lets not pretend it’s the same as it once was and further than that lets not waste a useful class slot on a useless Tinker class.

Ooh, How sad.
With the exception of Shadowlands, I think WoW has always distinctly felt like WoW.
I’m glad shadowlands is over, for that exact reason.
I mean, We have every other Archetype at this point.
Every Race can be their Iconic Class.
Every Hero Unit from WC3 is represented in the existing classes except for Tinker and Alchemist.
And since we already have Tinker NPCs and stuff in game, It seems like an easy addition.
