Being able to grind out a resource purchase gear / upgrade your BiS Stat gear
Imagine if Honor tokens could be used in that manner.
Imagine if Sigils / Trophies were not a huge joke.
Its actually wild the effect of being able to get gear from PvP for PvP would have on participation and the feelings of reward for doing the content.
BGs have actually been fun due to who has qued up for them Grinding out Rank3 for Blood Essence.
Imagine if you could mail gear to alts you grinded on main to get them to a decent base level and be able to upgrade that.
Its actually extremely sad that there are 0 systems like this in place. I doubt when Arena season appears anything like that drops but heres to hoping.
I got really excited to see the Mugabala Turn in guy have a "let me see your wares " option thinking there was potential for a PvP vendor or system to get gear from PvP in 8.2 But its simply a place to get essences / upgrade those ranks.
I love that Templates arent a thing. I love that gear matters.
I just dont want to have to run 50 M+10s and raids to get a vers ring because there isnt one available from PvP let alone having to RNG it to upgrade to a decent ilvl.
Being able to run different trinkets and builds is fun. Having to PvE to get any of that gear is not.

Templates in a MMO are awful design.
Playing templates removes any ability for the player to play their own playstyle.
Id be stuck with the stats blizzard thought worked for ele and not be able to adjust those stats for my own playstyle.
Customizing your own character to fit the talents / traits / playstyle you enjoy is part of what makes this game so fun imo.
Playing vs vultz who sacs everything for more haste is diff than others who dont.
Playing vs eles that pref max haste / vers is much diff than myself who plays crit / vers.
Templates removes players individuality in an MMO and the ability to make meaningful changes to how they play the game.
Removing reforging did this as well but making it templates only feels awful.
Game is generally the most fun when most classes have their own niche imbalances and tools to compete with other classes.
Looking at seasons in MoP and other “good pvp seasons” you can see there were a lot of imbalanced specs or things but fact is everyone had their own tools and imbalances so it was competitive.
Also game wasnt balanced with templates either. Go look at fire mage / mut s1-2 and Spriest boomy demo destro s 1-2 of legion.
That was with templates and it was a jokeeeeee for balancing.

I’d be down with templates or vendors I get why people dislike one or the other and it makes sense but literally either of those systems would be better than what we currently have in bfa where we are being funnel fed gear with high ilvl but incorrect stats or traits etc. if this was legion many of us would be viable and able to play because the gear we have would be usable but we get stuff like crit mastery bracers as a reward in our weekly boxes and blizz thinks that’s exciting compared to vendors.

Boomy and rshams were most fun with templates now rshams suck and boomy dmg sucks lol.
Rshams didnt suck last season but were actually pretty silly and saw quite a few at 3k rating on Eu.
Also boomy didnt suck you legit played it to 2650 without knowing how the game actually works or arena. Prev played it I think to 3k

Imagine being able to sit bear form all game even with 0 vers and not die and top meters and just pop out for incarn and 100-0 people.
Letting PvE simms decide which traits / essences you play when PVP is a completely diff game. Yes Simms can help out a lil but if you 100% went by them no shams would play lava shock which is what made ele shams strong last 2 seasons.
Fact is boomy could burst if you geared them diff. Spriest can even play a bursty build and dont need to only play rot from the short testing I did with mastery / crit / vers builds.
nobody tests much tho.

Ye pvp gearing is a joke but Id hop into mythic +10s and raids for rest my life before I ask for templates back.
Templates in PvP was awful. Fact is s2 could have been really fun with some slight CoS adjustments and maledict tuning / changes.
I feel like people who don’t want templates are the people who play this game too much and want an advantage that a more casual gamers wouldn’t have. WoD was personally my favorite pvp expansion for the simple fact that I could gear all of my alts fairly quickly a could play the game how I want. As it sits now, you can realistically only play one character competitively without spending your entire life in the game. I personally just don’t have time for that anymore like I used to, and it just sucks being stuck in one spec because blizz has a different idea of fun.

I miss templates. PvP was much more balanced. A lot more specs were competitive. There wasn’t this terrible grind if you wanted to play a new alt.

I played with you last season and with Decyffer who both hit 70-80k starsurges regularly when you guys played badge with incarn.
If you sacced more haste for vers / mastery /crit to like 20% you would have hit harder as well.
Incarn lasts 30 seconds and is one the stronger burst CDs in the game imo.
Eles is up there but dmg is over after SoP SK / 20 lava shock ES + badge insignia etc.
Spriest actually has a lot of potential for bursty builds if they stacked mastery so that void bolt / mindblast / void erruption hit hard as well as death / shadow crash burst. Everyone thinks Spriest has 0 burst potential tho despite being able to do really good burst along with their utility.
Incarn is a 3 min cd tho outside of those 3 mins we do absolute 0 dmg lol which is the prob.
Disagree. Not as good as WoD gearing by miles better than BfA gearing.

Plays 8% crit chance so starsurges dont hit hard at all.
Sits in bear form for 50 seconds at a time.

You never played Boomy before in 2400 mmr up bracket and you just saying gear is better than templates because you want to be 1 shotting all in pvp and be most tanky at same time so what u saying is biased and 1 sided.
I won’t go so far as to say sticki is wrong but I disagree with templates being worse. Literally any pvp gearing system would be better than current wow and I’d much prefer to hit max lvl and be only at worst 10% weaker than someone in stats and be able to catch up with any gear. Yeah it sucks not being able to stack as much haste as you want but it beat praying to rngesus and sending whispers to mages that managed to get oblivion spear trinket to drop and asking them to trade it to me, a dh and having people think I’m the idiot for wanting an intellect trinket lol.
Thunder used the word biased. I’m impressed, must’ve been the word of the day.
