I should have phrased it differently in the OP. What I meant is that it gave them something to work on during downtime since art is finite unlike programmers who constantly have to fix bugs, etc. It doesn’t matter how much they sell. It doesn’t make the comments any less disgusting, though.
Your premise might have some truth to it, but EVERYONE gives the art and music team complete credit and respect for the work they do. When people criticize expansions, it’s usually systems, balance, and story. NEVER art and music. Ever.
Not to mention Blizzard hardly ever contracts art, unless it is for one offs. In game assets are designed by Salary employees. Their paychecks are not effected by how much, or how little art they create lol.
Never trust what anyone says on the internet, people do a lot of things to try to put themselves in a position of power in an argument for some reason in every argument on the internet there is that one dude that magically claims to be something related to that topic to try and be more credible than everyone.
WoW artists are never really done. Currently they are probably finishing up any late expansion assets and starting work on the next expansion. They are always working an expansion ahead.
Blizzard has even changed the way it handles some sets to reduce their work load so that they can push it out in other areas. This is why you have seen sets where every class shares the same model for the same armor type.
Yeah, I am not the one who made the thread though. You’re claiming to speak from authority and experience. In the very first post.
Sorry, but the first to make the claim gets to be the first to provide proof.
Here you are again, trying to flex:
Again:
And more:
And all of those were before I challenged you to proving it.
Based on the absolute nonsense and delusional declarations about how the artists are somehow paid more because Blizzard put the product on the shop, or that professional artists are all consumed with negative criticism - we can safely assume exactly why you can’t provide credits.
You’re making it all up to try and convince people that you’re somehow an authority on the subject.
You’re not, and it doesn’t take an industry insider to see through it.
I’m pretty sure blizz doesn’t pay the artists more for doing a good job. They might send them 100 honor points as a bonus. Also, the accusations of greed are not directed at the artists.
Some places will do deliverables, which is essentially that. But again, Blizzard doesn’t typically work this way, otherwise too many people would have their hands on it and it would start to get mix mashed. Which is why they typically have salary employees do 98% of it, and contract for like specific things.
Thats the thing, you’re not only putting yourself into a situation where you receive constructive criticism as an artist, it’s also going to garner opinions. In some people’s opinions its garbage.
yo… you have a good idea here lets expand on it.
There’s allot of artists in this community who excel at 3D artwork so lets make a contest!!! Whatever submitted/approved mount wins gets crated and a portion of the proceeds goes to the actual artist.
or heck dude even like recognition. like shout out to xyz who won this awesome contest across all bnet launchers.
or maybe a care package filled with delightful goodies. like a new smart pad to draw with. a high grade one.
The issue is you opened yourself up to people asking for credits by the very nature of your post. When you say you are something that is an invitation for people to ask for your credits on that. She claims that she is an artist as well, but you are the prominent poster as you made the OP and made the claim first.
